Fish: Cowboys do plan to spend on tier 2 free agents

How about 2?
My guess for a while has been that they pick up Stefon Diggs. I would think he is considered a tier 2 type. Big enough name for Jerry to say he made a splash in FA, but also coming off an injury year and is 32 years old so that he wont cost a ton of money either. Maybe a 2 year/$30M type of deal?
So if they bring him in and let his brother go, how is that gonna go over?

Nick Bolton is a tier 2 free agent….solid addition and will instantly be the best LB on the team as I count Micah as a DE more than a LB
My two biggest gets were Milton and Bolton in FA. Looks like we are bringing back Osa so now it’s all about Bolton.

Having said that wouldn’t be a bit surprised to see Wash sign Nick…….

Tier 1 FAs are notoriously overpaid and rarely perform to expectations...if true I am good with tier 2 FAs and maybe a trade or two to grab more draft capital.

This team needs 5 to 6 starters at least to change the trajectory
I have been reading that this FA class overall is not strong and the same for this draft class.

If correct, being patient would be the wise move.

I guess its possible but I would be surprised if they cut him. They cant currently without negotiating a medical settlement since he hasnt been cleared to play. If you have to wait for him to get healthy before cutting him or giving him a big check to agree to be cut whats the point? If the guy is healthy he is worth keeping on the roster in hopes he regains some of his pre injury form.

Trouble is, most free agents believe they are Tier 1 and will seek out a team that treats them that way. Only after the market has decided who is Tier 1 and the other FAs haven't found a team yet, do you get to Tier 2.

Of course, I'm not sure what the Joneses consider Tier 2. They could consider their dumpster diving as Tier 2.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Dallas sign Bolton.

I'm sorry, but even the fact that this is leaked is evidence of extensive ROT.

Tier 2 free agents? The idea is to get the BEST guy for the BEST value. You telling me if we could - for example - get Joe Burrow for 2 1st round picks...we shouldn't do it because we have a "tier 2" approach?

This smacks of Jerry trying to appear as though they have a "strategy" - which invariably involves outsmarting the system and lining his pockets - and then peacocking at smart he is when the Cowboys get double-digit wins or some other meaningless market that the team arbitrarily sets and the lemmings lap up.
