I’d do it if he takes less. Wag is over 30. Wolf hunters about 27.
Wagner turns 33 in June; Vander Esch just turned 27. Dallas was the 3rd youngest NFL team in 2022 (after the cut to 53). Putting a 33 yr old player on a young team is fine if you only need one player (like Haley in 1992, e.g.) to get to a SB win. But Dallas is not at that position, the money Wagner would command would be better spent on shoring up multiple positions that don't have an LVE-level player, like left guard, center or cb, with a younger free agent, if free agent is the best way to go, or through the draft.

Now if Wagner would give Dallas a vet minimum or lower than he would get from other teams, sure, but seriously doubt he'd do that....

You really think Wagner will go anywhere for vet minimum? Are you serious?

This is from Cal Poly's post.

Fish’s sources suck if they’re saying Wagner can’t run anymore.

2022 All Pro
140 tackles
6.0 sacks
2 INTs
5 PDs
10 TFL

This isn't a vet minimum player.

And they most likely won't end up with either of them

Wasn't talking about just one year, like I said, Dallas isn't on the precipice of a SB this year, imho of course. Didn't say his performance is going to drop off a cliff in one year, but he signed a multiyear deal with the Rams, and he's probably looking for another one, but I'm not signing a soon to be 33-year-old linebacker to a multi-year deal...

Wonder if this means we are prioritizing signing one or the other
Last year, we re-signed LVE after he found out his market wasn't very strong. He played well enough that he'll have a better market this year, which means we won't sign either. I'd expect us to find another veteran who will play on a 1-year, $2-million and pair him with Clark, like we did Barr with LVE.

Tbh I think last year was a fluke. If he gets a multi-year contract he will revert back to why his player option was declined

Fisher’s burner phone heating up. Jerry keeps him stocked up with those.

Yes!! LVE was sub par last season but better than the previous year. Most of last season he looked a lot like Jaylon Smith.most gave LVE a pass. I didnt..
