Fish - Cowboys to target Quinn Ewers

This just in......Ewers stinks. The only people who should be targeting him is Home Depot or Whataburger. Why would any FO advertise that they are targeting a middling prospect like Ewers. His ceiling is Cooper Rush.
Do you get a referral bonus at Whataburger if they hire him?

Interesting take.
Remember the 2016 draft? Romo missed most of 2015 season with an injury and we actually considered drafting Wentz after coaching him in the Senior Bowl. But deciding to draft a QB that high would be too much of a distration fr Romo, so Jerry tried to move back into to first and draft Paxton Lynch. The point is, it was clear they were planning for life after Romo coz of injury concerns.

It's why I'm convinced they will see what they can get from Dak over the next couple of years and strongly consider moving on in 2027.

Perhaps. What makes me think they are at least considering Ewers is his similarities to Romo. High character guy with a head for the game.

I do see your point...we shall see.

I don't think so. Why can't they develop two QBs. They're paying Milton like a #3 anyway.

Some of you guys are seriously underestimating this guy.

He could be one of the better QBs in this class. He's got that moxie factor to him that you can't teach. He's made some bad decisions, at times. But he definitely has what it takes between the ears.

i can't remember when Cowboys did that in same year acquiring two new QBs.

and if they are paying and taking on Milton's rookie contract, in combination of trading for him, they are not likely to draft a Ewers with a 3rd round .

i could only understand otherwise if Quinn somehow fell much further into the 6th rounds and it becomes draft value - in according to McClay's draft board.

Imo, frankly Quinn has questionable decision making and horrible pocket presence.

Cowboys also intended to draft QB Conner Cook in the 4th round, before the Raiders snatched that chance away (thank goodness !) ..thus it eventually it came down to the Dak pick

Some insider even said we would have drafted Wentz if he made it to 4

With the Milton trade, I think the only way they now consider Ewers is maybe 6th or 7th round, which I don't see happening.
I think I'm good with Milton for the equivalent of a sixth over Ewers for a second or third. Now, if we want to add another QB in the fifth-seventh, I'm OK with that.

They aren't drafting another qb when they will have good running backs and dtackles available.

If you know Texas football, you know he's got a football background dating back to high school. He's legit, IMO.

Then again, I know he's not perfect. But I also know he has it between the ears.
I'm not as down on him as others are but at the same time.....he's falling in the draft for a reason. ITs been plenty of good high school players in the past not make that NFL jump. Happens all the time.
