The fact that they're working on a new deal means HE AIN'T LOCKED IN AT COLORADO.

If JJ wants him, all he needs to do is tempt him with money and unbelievable notoriety...and Deion may come.

I mean seriously, would you rather stay in cold *** Colorado and deal with the portal and college football (which won't be nearly as exciting for him without his sons), chasing an NCAA championship...or be in income-tax-free Texas coaching the highest valued franchise in football chasing a Superbowl? To me, if the money is right, Dallas is a no-brainer. And even if Deion fails in Dallas, it will be easier for him to move to coach another NFL team after coaching the Cowboys. Or he could move to a big-time college program like Harbaugh did by going to Michigan.

I know Deion's closest confidantes are in his ear saying, "Deion, wouldn't the absolute dream be to coach your sons IN THE NFL??? So go tell Jerry that if he's committed to bringing at least one of your sons here in the next 3 years, you'll come to Dallas."

Again, JJ + Deion is a match made in revenue generation heaven, for the NFL, the networks and the Cowboys.

Maybe Deion is smart enough to wait. Right now with Dak we really are stuck for at least two years. Odds are whoever Jethro hires is going to fail as well.
Got news for you dude, Colorado is a lot better than Texas in some ways. Especially if you do not like to FRY in Summer; less humidity and lots of beautiful mountains. The income tax thing is not that important when you are making that much money. That is something so many doofus types bring up in FA and it has NEVER MADE A DIFFERENCE.

I've been in both places, and yes, Colorado is far more beautiful than Texas. But they can have some rough winters, which for many, is not ideal. Deion's from Florida, so it's safe to say that he doesn't prefer the cold.

Last, wealthy people (those earning like $50 million or more) care about minimizing their payment of taxes, even though it's money they may never miss. And it certainly matters to rich people making less than that, because with these big contracts and higher salaries comes a lot of unforeseen expenses (even if you're not an athlete). So whoever told you that it never made a difference to a coach, a player, or rich or wealthy people in general, that's because they ain't rich and wealthy. The rich and the wealthy want to keep as much of their money as possible...no matter how much money they make. Ask Musk or Jeff Bezos if they don't care about paying income taxes. LOL

I hope Deion turns Jerry down. Jerry needs to be treated as a pariah by all coaches that he wants to hire.

Then it would eventually come down to either the ball boy or the water boy and both would be over the moon to be the next head coach of the Dallas Cowboys! So there is that.

If Dallas ends up with Deion, I see us getting Dak to waive his no-trade clause and working a deal with Cleveland for the No. 2 pick to draft Shedeur. That just seems like it would be meant to be. To make it palatable to the Browns, who've had their own QB issues, Dallas would have to be willing to eat a portion of Dak's contract with him coming off injury. But Cleveland getting a starting quarterback at a cut rate in a weak QB draft and also getting the No. 12 pick to spend on another position should make it worthwhile for the Browns. Not sure that Tennessee would take the same offer since it might be willing to stick with Levis as starter, but if it decides that it doesn't, that deal might be palatable to the Titans as well.

I know some with prejudice against Dak don't think he has worth, but he was in the running for MVP just two seasons ago before things fell apart in 2024. He's generally also been a top 10 QB. Of course, that also might make the Browns hesitant due to their failure with Watson. If not for his contract and the "bad year," Dallas could get a better deal for him, but those two factors weigh down his value.

The only way the Deion hire would be great for the Cowboys is if they convince Dak to accept a trade to the Browns along with our 1st round pick so the Cowboys can draft Sanders at #2.

Sanders might suck at QB, but at least it would get loser Dak out of the locker room.

He already has a contract on the table with a raise, from what I’ve read. If this is correct, the resistance is to Deion being “greedier” from their perspective.

I highly doubt that Dak is traded, however if the Cowboys really wanted to move on Dak has an $89M cap hit for 2025 already. Trading him bumps that up to $103M. It really isnt that much more, and at least leaves to door cracked for the possibility if Deion is their target as HC. I think its more likely Kellen Moore is the guy and they end up restructuring Daks deal to free up space, but until Deion is eliminated from consideration its at least worth the discussion....just a few days ago I really didn't see it that way, but Ive come around.
