Not a fan. Would be an underwhelming hire to say the least.

I prefer someone from the Kyle Shanahan tree that will implement a modern run oriented scheme and actually commit to the ground attack.

Having a decent running game is the only possible way we can succeed with Dak at QB.

You are paying him crazy money, might as well surround him with the weapons you know he has to have to even have a small chance of success
Dak never won anything with really good teams and when healthy

He’s winning nothing now
Stop wasting time

Pay Johnson (Lions OC) to be HC
Recommend Saleh for DC but should be HC final decision

Draft a QB rd1
If the rookie comes in and does well in TC, tell Dak he can be traded or sit, his choice.
Take the cap hit, no restructure

Trade Parsons and Diggs for big time draft capital to restock the talent

Next year will be a rebuilding year but if the QB hits we will be competing in 2026

Takes some balls and Jerry does not have any

Kingsbury would be an excellent hire if Jerry were to let him come in and do a full coaching sweep and let him hire his own coaching staff. Otherwise it's wasting everyone's time.

As long as you get a solid DC. Robert Saleh or Mike Vrabel (if he’s not a HC anywhere) would work. Or if we’re looking to promote from within Al Harris, but I have a feeling he goes off to DC with DQ after this season.
New HC should pick their staff. Period.

Itll be among the Kingsbury, Flores, Vrabel mold
From what I'm reading/hearing, you can take Vrabel off that list.......According to a writer from a paid site, few league thinks Vrabel will get a min 2-3 offers. Say more teams are looking for coaches who are former players to change/control the locker room culture and lean more on a running game ( Lions, Eagles, and Chargers were examples used ).

WEAKNESSES
  • His teams always start well, then fade.
  • His teams never seem to have a good defense. I can only surmise that he spends little time talking to his defensive coaches and players.
  • Not a great disciplinarian. His teams are usually high in number of penalties.
  • His personality is somewhat introverted. Doesn’t love talking to the press.
My final take on Kliff Kingsbury is he’s an offensive genius who is a great offensive coordinator but not a great head coach. IMO he’s best as an OC. Jerry would love that he doesn’t want a lot of media spotlight.
This sounds like Kellen Moore Bob........do you think it would help he had a strong assistant head coach?

Jerry loves other teams' trash.

Jerry looks for coaches that were previously fired. They are the most grateful and easiest to control because they are the most thankful for another chance.
I would love to see Flores here, and if he wasn't on the list then Vrabel and as a last resort the Hoodie.

I know if you just looked at news articles one would think Flores was not a good coach and had a tendency to be a whiner and complainer who sued the NFL.

I think his overall record an development as a coach is the kind of resume I like. From the bottom up as an assistant scout. He worked under the hoodie in the disciplinarian environment, and has had some success after the up and down learning period with the Dolphins.

I am interested in his defence that relies on players who are not "dumb". It is a complex defence that emphasizes players doing their job right all the time. There is very little margin for error.

I am interested in seeing a culture change in the Cowboys, and having a locker room and team focused on weeding out "stupid" players is something I thikn would help. If there is a coaching change I want someone from the Belichick coaching tree. I know there are other more talented and innovative coaching individuals, but I feel the best type of coach for the current team and current ownership is a hardass personality.

Last, I suspect he has a bit of an edge with him, and could take on the nonsense of carnival barker GMs like Jerry and Stephen Jones.

Not if Jerry is still Jerry. Kingsbury would basically be a very good coordinator who probably would not be a great HC. It would be Wade Phillips again.

If I had to choose between Kingsbury and Kellen Moore, give me Kingsbury. But neither of those guys are going to make the Cowboys significantly better.

Saleh? In three and a half years with the jets as HC he’s 20-36, no playoff appearances. He has been a great DC. Lousy HC. I just don’t see him as an upgrade here.
I think in his context he does mean Saleh as DC

Joe Whitt Jr is already the DC in Wash I don’t see him getting bumped off .

I’m a big Texas Tech fan and have some strong opinions about Kliff. He’s a brilliant offensive mind but a lousy HC. Remember it was Kingsbury who recruited and developed Patrick Mahomes at Tech. Somehow with the great Mahomes on board, Tech only had a winning record once.

Don’t get me wrong, there’s a lot to like about Kingsbury, but some downers too. Here are the strengths and weaknesses Of KK as a head coach as I see it.
STRENGTHS
  • One of the most innovative in offensive scheme and play calling in football today.
  • Relates well to the players.
  • Hard working. A coach who lives and breathes in the film room.
  • Good judge of offensive talent.
  • Aggressive; not afraid to take chances.
  • Develops young QBs very well.
WEAKNESSES
  • His teams always start well, then fade.
  • His teams never seem to have a good defense. I can only surmise that he spends little time talking to his defensive coaches and players.
  • Not a great disciplinarian. His teams are usually high in number of penalties.

Right there with you Bob. Everything you said is spot on. If he can just coach the QB and call plays he’s really good. He actually likes to run the football a lot as well. But he’s not a multi tasker that can have his eye and hands on the rest of the team. He’s fantastic with young QB’s but our QB isn’t young.
