I honk it all depends on how you value these guys and the cap number it costs you to keep them. If you value them as nothing but a placeholder then signing them means they should be paid only as insurance and you try to draft a guy better than them.

This is a pretty deep corner draft according to the experts. You are supposed to be able to draft a starting corner as late at the 4th round in this draft but maybe not at the bottom of the 4th round.

If we don't sign either Carr or Claiborne we would need to draft two Corners in the top 3 picks which is OK if that's what they want to do as BPA will likely line up with need but it is starting to force the pick and eliminates options by the team.

If we resign Carr or Claiborne that leaves Brown, Scandrick and one of those two as the starters and leaves room for a premium pick in the first four rounds at corner or a developmental corner after that that you hope you can develop cheaply like Brown. But that player will likely play some this year just like Brown did last year so you had better not miss.

Keeping Carr and Mo both means that you probably only have room for one corner draft pick unless you cut Carr or Mo after the draft. It makes the most sense to sign one or the other as it gives the team the most flexibility in the draft.

We need to upgrade the defensive line. 1 Tech really needs to be one of the spots to be upgraded if we really want the best line we can get.

If the Cowboys do not resign McClain either he is out of or price range, we plan on upgrading through the draft, or they do not think McClain is a very good player.

RATher retain Mo than Carr...

Agreed, McClain is a nice player, but the Cowboys have Thornton, can save a lot by drafting a replacement, or can find other alternatives in free agency. McClain could very well sign for 5 million a year, which I don't think is worth it. He was journeyman player that the Cowboys found as a backup on the Texans which was his already his 3rd team.

I want both back, I've always been a Mo fan and think he's going to keep getting better, but I would take Carr based on his reliability, is he the best? No, will he show up ready to go play solid every week? yes.

I'd like to keep McClain. We don't need to further weaken our depth on the d-line.

I'd say your logic is sound, but it completely ignores McClain's injury history and the fact that his first healthy season was a contract season.

Furthermore he faded down the stretch wile Maliek Collins got stronger. I have literally no confidence that he will live up to what ever deal he signs

I really think given another year to get stronger, and to improve his technique, I really like Collins as the 1 tech, with Thornton backing him up. At the 3 tech I like TCrawford and DIrving. Maybe we draft a 5th DT, or we sign JCrawford to a near minimum deal, but unless a really good DT falls to us, I'd be okay with not drafting one.

One might win by resigning Mo longer term based on his injury history. That's risky but it might be a good risk to take.

It's definatlety risky in my mind, but I agree, that could end up payining off on the long run, it's gonna be tough if we are forced to choose one or the other.

We will not resign both. Carr/Mo and Brown start outside with OScan in slot. The number 4 spot is for a high draft pick CB.
