Had a chance to evaluate the OL-DL senior bowl tape last night.
A couple observations, I was suprised at the bull rush power of Okafor over the top 5 Eric Fisher. He did it twice at 13:05 mark and the 15:54. Also Quessenberry looks very solid accept when Sly Williams burned him bad with a spin move at 15:04. Enjoy!

pass rusher has such an advantage when they know it's a pass and they know there is no help--but Sly's spin move was impressive

A lot of Scouts are saying that Okafor has the best bull rush of any of the ends, hands down. Said he was the strongest of all of the DE's in this capacity, even though his size is relatively smaller then many of the other prospects.

Yes, Okafor is very strong for his size. Lack of elite quickness and ability to bend around the outside are what pushed him down the draft boards. He would be a decent Strong-Side DE in Kiffin's scheme.

Sylvester Williams is going to win often if matched up 1-on-1 against a Guard. He is just too quick.

Datone Jones is fast for a guy his size.

Yes, he is a good one. He could player SDE or 3-tech in Kiffin's defense.

Yep, that's why I wouldn't at all mind ending up with him as our pick. 3-tech on passing downs and SDE on run downs to give Spencer a break or let Spencer move to WDE to give Demarcus a break.

He would be a very good fit in Kiffin's scheme. Versatile.

Agree; although, they should just give him 1 position as a rookie.

Sly is looking better & better as our first round pick, but both Short & Jones looked like great options in a trade down scenario.

I am a fan of the Senior Bowl but we have to be careful relying too much on it.

We've seen a lot of guys rise because of the SB then bust out altogether.

I know Taylor Mays was a questionable playmaker and cover guy but he had a pick and showed range at the Senior Bowl. He may be the 49ers worst draft pick of the last half decade.

Marty Gilyard really killed it at the SB. He looked great but hasn't done a thing since.

The top of the draft seldom features SB participants.

The NFL wants to get more kids attending but right now it is pretty much for guys ranked r2 and below hoping to rise.

Datone Jones looked like a top 10 pick to me at the SB but I watched UCLA play a couple times and really didn't even notice him. Went back looking for youtube highlights and he doesn't have much there.

Okafer may have a great bull rush but he's nonexistent on the edge too many times. RTs dont worry about his speed and can sit down and anchor. He may give some LT bull rush issues but RT are generally far too strong at the next level.

I'd like Okafer as a Dallas project in round 3 or 4. I wouldn't expect much early in his career. I think he is a less gifted player than Crawford.

Williams is old (25) but he has such upside. When I watch him I notice that he uses no counters and his only pass ruch move is a spin move. He started usinga spin move at the senior bowl and it worked but he did stumble coming out of it a couple of times.

I just remember watching UNC and seeing him fire off the ball and when his initial move didn't work just give up on the rush and look for the play to the outside. He just seemed to now know what he should do.

Now he was two gapping a lot there so I get that but his technique can use a lot of work but he is still beating guards to the gap regularly when asked to shoot them. His timing and quickness is elite. His awareness is great too. He can see what is going around him as he is rushing upfield. That last bit is why I don't like Floyd. He has a bit of blinders on watching him play. Floyd is so raw out there though that I wonder.

Exactly, an offensive lineman doing well in this drill is far more telling than a defensive lineman.

Also, as far as Sly's spin move, that's part of what I mean when I say he plays the game like a 3, not a 1. Not that it can't work, but the guy plays more finesse than mauler.
