In all honesty, I'm not getting my hopes up. This is probably just negotiating nonsense designed to scare the Cowboys into grossly overpaying him this year.

And based on Stephen Jones' comments, it will likely work.

On one hand I don't think he's as bad as what some proclaim... On the other it would save some salary cap coin and force the Cowboys to look at other options to improve the position.

So, "can't lose"?

Great position to take.

That would change things although I'm not sure for the better because Leary probably will be gone by the time it's decided and we'll be left with Green to replace him. Considering Green has yet to show he can stay healthy, that would be a concern.

If we're not going to retain Leary, I'd rather Free play out his contract and we replace him next year.

He's not negotiating. He's made a lot of money over his career. Like someone said above if he's thinking about it, he's probably done.

It probably is time for him to hang them up. He was more than serviceable. I don't understand why some on this board think we can have all pro at every position, explain it too me?
