Cardinals | Team working on long-term deal with Fitzgerald
Mon, 3 Mar 2008 12:43:48 -0800

Mike Tulumello, of the East Valley Tribune, reports the Arizona Cardinals are working on a long-term deal to keep WR Larry Fitzgerald. "This is my home. I enjoy being here. I love my teammates. I love the organization. I definitely hope things can get worked out," said Fitzgerald. The Cardinals owe Fitzgerald $32 million over the next two years because of the incentives he reached in 2007.

can't AZ just give him a new deal, by just porating the 32 mil, hell, add 2 more years, and he'll still be receiving a chunk of change

idk, I'm no cap expert

Looks like all of these rumors are much ado about nothing. I do wish the Cowboys would sign/trade for a veteran WR and a draft a rookie one high.

Of course he loves it in AZ. I would love it 2 if I was going to get $32M over 2 years. Who could not love that?

Guarantee it for 24 spread out the remaining 8 over the next two seasons and extend him for 6 years.

That halves his cap hit and im sure makes him happy.

why would fitzgerald want to stay in AZ. so he can rot like every player that joins that crap hole team? greed is a terrible thing...

actually, i was surprised that randy moss wasn't looking for larry fitzgerald money in the open market. comparing to bernard berrian and donte stallworth, randy moss is a bargain at 9 million a year.

If building thru the draft was the way to go for teams, then Arizona would be the best team in NFL history - they've been picking high number 1's for years.

Wonder if PT will start a thread about this?

:laugh1:

No need ...we're used to "missed" opportunities in Philly. You'll get no whimpering from PT! Besides, our quest for a #1 WR doesn't end with Fitzgerald staying out.

Fitz has a great agent .....how in the world did he work out a deal like that? 32 mil due within the next 24 months?

T.O. you might want to speak with Fitz....

They're going to likely get him moved into a new 5 or 6 year deal and put him at big enough money to make it worth it for him to sign. He's going to get a lot of money to stay there, either way, just probably not 16 million a season.
