Five Defensive Coordinators

I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work. Many refer to the Commanders and how too many coaches didn't help them, but then they didn't have a lot of talent. A better example might be Dick Vermeil when he took over as the Ram head coach. He brought in mostly older coaches who had he worked with or new by reputation. A few of them had been head coaches, others DC or OC and some were position coaches. It worked just fine there probably because they had the talent and Kurt Warner was good that year to get the job done. And while Vermeil was a soft touch, there was never a hint of any problem on the coaching staff.
