FISHTIP 1: Tony Romo in the two-minute drill in a real game is often magical. Romo running the hurry-up here? Not even fair.

FISHTIP 2: Defensive lineman David Irving was a dominant force in the late-going, twice getting into the offensive backfield to make plays. Yes, Dallas is in search of help here … but Irving told me he thinks the Cowboys have the in-house weapons to be successful along the D-line right now. If he plays like this, he may be right.

FISHTIP 3: Dez Bryant was Dez Bryant, but behind him, competitions are brewing. Can Brice Butler push T-Will? And while both of them should make the squad, what about Andy Jones pushing for a fifth or sixth spot? And if it’s “fifth,’’ what happens to Lucky Whitehead?

FISHTIP 4: Where Whitehead earns his spot is on special teams, and he had a dazzling punt return for a TD in the Blue-White that reminds how elusive he can be … when he secures the football.

FISHTIP 5: Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said watching Dak Prescott and Jameill Showers at QB convinces him “more than ever’’ that Dallas doesn’t need to trade for a vet like Cleveland’s Josh McCown. I think this is “Jerry Poppins’’ speaking … but trade talk — involving Ron Leary and Darren McFadden and eventually, an edge-rusher to be acquired — is worth monitoring on Monday’s players day off and beyond.

I wish we would just go into a hurry up during the game at times like some of the other teams do.

Our QB is one of the best in the league in these no huddle situations and we could really take advantage of Romo's football smarts.

I'm not saying go full on Chip Kelly and do it every series but there are times in a game where it would be beneficial to have the first few plays scripted and just get to the line and run it as quick as possible.

Maybe a Jim Kelly style no huddle

Fish has been yapping about the possibility of the Cowboys trading for a DE for a while now. Something to watch

I really think with how our OL has the ability to dominate and how special Romo is in the hurry up it needs to be used more often. Opposing DL will beg for mercy getting man handled by the OL and the secondary will be sitting ducks with Romo/Dez/Elliot coming at them without the luxury of substituting. It's my biggest complaint with the offense the past few years. Sometimes this offense is fluttering and out of rhythm then comes the 2 min warning and like magic they find their groove. Maybe it has something to do with conditioning but it's something the offensive coaches need to capitalize on this more this year.

This would likely end up with teams selecting either the run game or the passing game to consistently try to stop.

Street must have some compromising pictures of Jerry and/or Garrett. How he escapes being mentioned as one who may hit the, er, streets is beyond me.

What am I missing that others see?

Man, it would be nice to see Whitehead become a dynamic returner.

While not crucial, having a punt or kickoff TD can really set the tone moving forward.

I don't believe a word of that. I've read in here every day for months we suck so bad on defense.

Maybe Hayden gave him his on his way out the door.

The DE trade makes sense but seems unlikely

A legit pass rushing DE is going to likely be overvalued in any trade negotiation unless they have serious red flags ( Chandler Jones). I dont see the Cowboys giving up premium picks it would take to land a rusher, Leary wont get that trade done and you have to question why a team is trading something as valuable as a pass rusher. Its not like HB's last year

I think it will be one of those things where calls will be made at some point but I dont see any trade being made
