We're on the outside looking in.

Giants, Commanders, Panthers, Bucs, Cowboys

Other teams win, and they are in.

Good thing is we play last (Sunday Night) so we will know if our game means anything.

Our best chance is for Washington or Carolina to lose. The other senerios I wouldn't hang any hopes on.

Can the Eagles beat the Commanders? Commanders are playing good ball right now. One thing against them is that they are playing in Philly. The skins don't play well away from home. The only legitmate team they have beaten on the road was, embarassingly, us. If they were playing an AFC team on the road, I'd say we were as good as in. But, it's Philly. A banged up, hobbling team playing second and third teamers. Philly's game plan should be QB scambles, runs, and throw short dump passes. If Philly can eliminate the mistakes, control the clock, and rely on their defense they may have a slim chance. The crowd will play a big part in this game (if they show up).

Carolina and Atlanta. Historically Vick and Atlanta have owned Carolina. Winning five in a row until this season's 24-6 loss in Carolina. Atlanta is out of the playoff and may mail this one in. What better motivation than to be able to put a nail in the coffin of a heated rival. If we have any chance to get into the playoffs it will hinge on this game.

I think they'll show up to be honest. Sunday is going to be one wild day, Carolina @ Atlanta at 1:00 then Washington @ Philadelhpia at 4:00 then hopefully our game that will put us in the playoffs St. Louis @ Dallas. How bad would it feel to watch both Carolina and Washington's game and watch them both win. Who knows what's gonna happen I wish it was tomorrow heh.

Before saturday there were 7 teams and 4 spots.

Two teams dropped out and one of them wasn't us. :)

Some other things to note. Giants have lost their entire LB corp. Chances of Oakland beating them are pretty good. However New Orleans chances against Tampa Bay are not good at all. Thing that could change that is if Bouman somehow got hurt and Brooks came in with something to prove and also try to savage his career.

Falcons unsure whether Mora will be disciplined over postgame anticsBy GEORGE HENRY, Associated Press Writer
December 25, 2005

ATLANTA (AP) -- Falcons general manager Rich McKay said Sunday it's too early to tell if the team will discipline coach Jim Mora for his antics following the team's overtime loss at Tampa Bay.

"Let me get through the weekend," said McKay, who also is the Falcons president. "Right now I just don't know."

The 27-24 defeat on Saturday eliminated Atlanta from playoff contention. After the game, in his regularly scheduled postgame chat with radio flagship analyst Dave Archer, Mora was asked to explain why the Falcons punted from their 24 when facing fourth-and-2 with 1:08 remaining in overtime.

Even though Michael Koenen's punt went 53 yards, Mark Jones' 28-yard return put the Buccaneers in position to win the game on Matt Bryant's field goal five plays later.

According to several team and radio station employees, Mora abruptly removed his headset after hearing Archer's question and threw it to the ground.

Three team employees and two with the radio station, all of whom requested anonymity because they said they feared alienating the coach, said Mora was so angry that he also threw a microphone -- which almost hit Nicole Watson, a sideline reporter with the radio station, in the head.

Watson had given Mora the microphone and headset so he could conduct his usual postgame interview with Archer, who was in the broadcast booth above the field.

Mora did not immediately return a call placed to his cell phone Sunday afternoon. The Falcons have lost five of seven since a Week 9 victory at Miami left them 6-2 and tied for the NFC lead. Atlanta, which advanced to the conference title game last season and beat defending NFC champion Philadelphia in the Sept. 12 season opener, blew a 24-17 lead against the Bucs when Carnell Williams ran for a touchdown on fourth-and-1 at the Falcons 6 with 25 seconds left in regulation.

So he gets fined, big deal. Certainly not enough to distract the team. Although Atlanta could mail it in, Mora very competitive guy and will make sure his team understands importance of winning last game in effort use it to build for next year. Same goes for the Cowboys by the way if we don't get in.

Exactly what a coach loves to hear, a armchair QB right in his face, second-guessing him after a tough loss where his season is basically over.

Mora could've easily been more restrained, but how stupid is the reporter for asking a question like that?

Actually I hope Eagles find it enough burning anger over how this season has gone to play their absolute best, particularly in front of the home town, to beat the you know what out of the Skins. Sure would be great to see Skins lose last game which puts us in the playoffs. As I mentioned before, I lived in Va for many years and had nothing against Skins when I moved there and I wasn't a Cowboy fan at the time; this was back in the late 60's. Anyway, grew to hate the Skins cause it just seemed they were always complaining about losing due to ref bad calls & league conspiring to beat them, etc; it was never their fault when they lost and George Allen was an absolute nut. Skins still haven't changed; when they lose it is always the refs calls, etc. Anyway, I loved to make the playoffs over dead skins body. Yes!

If New York loses to Oakland, then Washington has even more of a reason to win. They'd get the division.

I think the fickle Philly fans are already thinking about the Sixers and Flyers. A lot of tickets of ebay this week.

I would expect the Eagles to play well. They almost beat the Giants a few weeks back and the Giants are better than the Commanders. Plus, if Brunell is out that is a big loss for Washington. I think the Philly D will harass Ramsey or Brunell. Remember, Philly's D is not what is hurting. It's mostly their offense that has been the problem, but I think they can find a way to score 20. If they can, the Skins can be beat. Not sure about what Falcons team will show up. I think our best chance to get in is through the Eagles. Really hard to root for the Eagles but we have no choice.

If he didn't ask it, he wouldn't have been doing his job. The question BEGGED to be asked. Did you watch the game? I was wondering the same thing. The Falcons needed a win. A tie would not have helped them, except under a highly improbable scenario. So even if he was on his own 20, 4th and 2, he had to go for it. He flushed the season for the Falcons. The question HAD to be asked. Why'd you do it Jim?

I think our best chance is the Falcons over the Panthers. The Falcons hve owned the Panthers at home and I don't care that the Falcons are out and have nothing to play for. These guys are professionals and will show up and compete. I have more faith rooting for a pretty good football team in the Falcons, than a Philly team that has problems all over their offense. If Philly's defense can blitz and get pressure on Ramsay/Brunell and cause some TO's than they'll have a shot. The other good thing for us is that both teams we are rooting against are plying on the road, don't discount that.

Some things do need to be asked, but they're better times to ask that. Say oh, after he had cooled down from the defeat?

Comes down to ethics. You don't want someone rubbing your face in the dirt while you're already laying there. But what do journalists care?

Actually I think Mora made the right move there in punting. The ST just didn't execute. Easy to say he made the wrong move when it didn't work out.

If he went for it on 4 and 2 from their 24 and didn't make it, he would have been fired and run out of town.
