We need some one who can collapse the pocket, when do get pressure on the edges opposing QBs just step up in the pocket. We also need not one but two safety capable of guarding the top of the secondary. And an intimidator in the secondary would help out tremendously. I am lobbying for Craven in the second.

I love Cravens, but I think he's is going to go in the first when all is said and done. I am hoping for Karl Joseph in the second. He is the most versatile safety in the draft and one of the most violent hitters.

I do like Joseph he is a little undersized and that scares me as far durability is concerned but his talent and heart is undeniable. Killebrew is another that i'll be watching at the Senior bowl big talent, small school.

Carr needs to simply turn his head. Why he doesn't, is beyond me.

Mo needs to be able to tackle without damaging something. He'll never be able to do that.

Wilcox needs to be washing windshields down town. He can do that

Church lost something. His bearings and field awareness. He got his ankles busted several times this year.

Rolando.............TAKE FOOTBALL SERIOUSLY. Put in the time in the off season. Also......play your assignment. Reminds me of Lavaar Arrington.......Ton of talent ,can't be coached.

Hardy needs to stop doing his own thing. You ain't getting a sack if the RB is blowing past you.

Heath needs...........I'm not quite sure. A compass?

For some reason the whole defense wasn't swarming around the ball like in 2014. Where did Hitchens go?

Marinelli needs to junk the 'Rushmen' gig. Ain't working.

JMO............

We need a premier pass rusher. A 12-15 sack guy. Hardy has that potential but everyone whats him gone. If he leaves our d line will be in bad shape. All of the playoff teams had 41-52 sacks this season, we had 32. Whos gonna get you the sacks and pressures.

I think we have a 12 sack guy in Lawerence.
To me this team needs a strong 1 technique contrary to our coordinator's belief. This allows 1) stopping runs which we have not done well this past year and make it 2nd or 3rd and long. 2) pressure up the middle and either get the sack or flush QB for our DEs to get sacks. 3) pressure up the middle generate poor throwing lane and bad throws which lead to INTs.

I hope our coaches see that and get a REAL 1 technique.

IF we are not drafting a QB in the 1st round then find a way to pick up Miles Jacks and Billing in the 1st two rounds will make this D significantly better instantly.
DT to push the pocket and stop the run while occupying blockers. Lee and Jacks roaming the middle and running unobstructed to make plays/ints. This will go a long way to improve the D.

I guess I understand why some worry about Jospeh's size, but his injury this season was his first and he was a day one starter. He can put on another 10-15lbs of muscle and be fine.

I think 2 big things is push up the middle at DT both in rushing the passer and stopping the run and better production at safety especially the FS spot.

The middle is where this game is controlled. The middle of the field is where most passes are thrown, its where most of the runs are directed. The middle of the DL is the closest to the QB. The middle is where the leader of the D usually roams (Middle LB). Find playmakers at DT, MIKE and Safety.

Marinelli had a point about our defensive players not trying to strip the ball out often enough. It's very noticeable, seeing players on other teams doing it routinely. Not so much with us.

I was satisfied with the defense this year...the cowboys were in most games until the end when the defense got gassed (too many 3&outs by the lackluster offense keeps the D on the field); any unit can be improved, but in this case, to me, the best defense is a good offense

if we don't grab a QB in rd 1, then take DE from Ohio St, re-sign Hardy and move him inside more and then just send waves after the QB with your front 4...
