Fix the D or fix the offense?

The way I see it, our offensive core for the next 2 or 3 seasons is

* Dak (declining, but has an immovable contract)
* CeeDee
* Tyler Smith
* I would love to see Guyton and Beebe end up here by next season.

And our defensive core for the next 2-3 seasons is

* Parsons
* Overshown
* Diggs
* I'd love to keep Osa, he's been productive and consistent
* There will be a decision made on Bland

Anyone who doesn't compete with these guys is fair game to draft IMO.

Looking at it in a vacuum, the defense is more talented and complete than the offense. But I'm not looking to build an offense, or build a defense. I'm looking to build a team.

If you had the choice, which would you fix this offseason?

-DT, MLB, Safety
-RB, WR, OL

A lot is going to depend upon who is the team's HC, who runs the offense and defense. New HC might want to bring his own identity to the team. MM was known for his passing offenses with the Packers, for instance.
A great question. As much as I want to finish the defense, I think our offense is in worse shape. Dak is limited (injuries/inability to be a running threat) as a quarterback and we need to rebuild the offensive line and running back room. We are so far behind the top Super Bowl contenders.

We have learned the hard way that a team that is mostly offense sells seats and makes the playoffs but WILL NEVER REACH THE SB let alone win it

Those crying for offense are those that only care about relevancy not winning a championship

It starts with the trenches, then you build out.

A lot work is needed to fix their rushing attack, have to figure how which are the best positions for these prospects to settle in, then you need to upgrade the rushing scheme and finally upgrade the RB room.
That's kind of what I'm saying. I'm just saying it's not a super player personnel heavy solution. Whereas the DL is in pretty bad shape comparatively.

Let’s say we end up back in the top 10 and Graham and TMac are available…who you taking?

Yeah and I have as many questions about our entire offensive line except for Tyler compared to the defensive line. We got problems.
Play the young guys. Give them the rest of the season to show something before spending cap or draft capital on the O line
We know what we have on the D line and it is bad

Graham, but I'd be happy with either. I think they're both really good pure football players who are ready to contribute right away.

If you're looking 2 or 3 years ahead, Graham has a little higher ceiling. He's a potentially better DT, than Tet is at WR. But Tet plays a money position and looks ready to grab 70 or 80 passes immediately, while even studly DTs often take a season or two to get rolling. I think Graham starts here right away, but I don't think he blows up offenses right away.

If your team-building thesis is that we're paying Dak for 3 more years, and Dak tends to play how his supporting cast plays, there's some logic to plug-and-playing McMillan.

Parsons, Gholston and Osa our bad? What Cowboys games have you been watching?

Yea I’d lean TMac due to the depth of DT in the class but would be happy with either.

I’m just so dang tired of us trotting out the same crap at WR each year and wonder why our Onis only good against mediocre defenses.

Don't play dumb. Osa and Gholston are above average at best.
Parons frankly should not be a DE as that is going to beat him down and we should move to a more 3-4 and have him play at OLB but anyway we have only One Top Starter for 4 positions.
Do the math

You can’t just replace good players with draft picks. You really don’t understand football if you think Parsons is not an elite defensive end. That is all he has played since he has been on the team. The first game he played against Tampa Bay and later that year against Minnesota Parsons played off ball linebacker but that was pretty much it. Nobody plays 3/4 anymore. Most teams play nickel or dime defenses or a variant. This isn’t the 90s.

HE is elite most of the time but disappears late in the season and what has he done in the playoff games? To me a truly elite player is there when it really matters and PARSON HAS NOT DONE IT
You go on about Parsons but ignore the rest of the jags
that is on you

Let’s look at Parsons 3 playoff loses. None of the three games we had a lead to let him hunt the quarterback. Again I question your football knowledge. Playoff football is about team play more than anything else. Against the Tampa Bay Bucs he was dominating. The reason the Cowboys had a big lead and he was unleashed.

You have no football knowledge. I notice you do not dare touch how he fades late in the season
and now you are claiming he is only great when he in unleashed
what a joke

This is why moving Parsons off the ball makes sense, especially in obvious run situations. Quinn did that with success when Parsons was a rookie, but moved away from it later on.

Have to find a quality DT in free agency or the draft, the rest of the defense is good enough if the offense gets back on track in my opinion.

They have to find another Tackle, plus a WR and a RB. The draft is full of quality running backs so that shouldn't be an issue but the tackle class is not that great so I am starting to think getting a quality WR like Burden or McMillan makes a ton of sense and finding a stop gap FA to play RT.
