He's responding to a legal threat from a large corporation, and he's afraid to say something publicly that could further 'damage' that corporation. In that context, the $50K/day is incremental to the cost of the copyright infringement lawsuit or the related bad publicity from citing the company that's pressuring him in such a public situation.

Nintendo has released a statement saying they never contacted him, nor pursued anything on it. So, that theory is a little misguided.

I think he must have got sick of everything couldnt handle the limelight like james cameron after 2 months after avatar was realised he was sick to death of hearing about blue people. Its like when you are with your whole family at christmas its alright that day but if you did it every week i personally would hate it
