Fleming hitting the free agent market

Hmmm......thought we had him for another year. So, we need another swing or legit backup for Tyron?

We may already have our swing tackle since Williams could be better suited to playing on the outside than at guard.

I'd like to see us allow Williams be given a legitimate shot to compete for the starting job at right tackle, then whoever loses that battle competing with Looney and Sua'Filo to be the starting right guard.

However, I don't think we'll give Williams that opportunity this year, so he could be the swing tackle if Looney or Sua'Filo wins the guard spot. Then, Williams would likely replace Collins the next year when he becomes a free agent.

If Williams did win the starting tackle spot, Collins could be the swing tackle even if he wins the starting spot at guard. Looney and Sua'Filo both can come in at guard if needed, which would make it easy to shift Collins or Williams to the outside.

LOL

I'm perfectly fine letting him walk for a comp and try and hit in this solid tackle draft class

Amazing how players play so much better when they’re on the patriots, than they do for other teams.

I wonder why that might be.

Protecting the best QB in NFL history who also happens to throw the ball really quickly probably makes it a lot easier to not give up that many sacks too.

Haven't really seen anything that makes me think Williams is a starting quality G or T yet. Hopefully. the bulking up is all he needs but he was too much a boy among men this past season.

Sua’filo isn’t a long term answer at LG. IMO. He is a backup level player. So if they move Connor to RT then La’el would have to be LG and it still leaves a hole at OT.

So the cowboys either need to add a starting level LG to the roster or, find an adequate swing tackle.

He's been a league minimum guy his whole career until the Cowboys offered him slightly higher. He probably stays for vet minimum now.

Make La’el the swing tackle, move Connor to RT, and put Looney at LG assuming T-Fred is back..

Or make Connor the swing tackle and put Looney at LG. Either works for me. I want to see La’el at LT if Smith has to miss a game...

I think he'll get more than we're willing to pay. Hell, if he AND Stephen were serious about bringing him back, we would have already extended him IMO. I'm guessing we'll sign a replacement from the bargain bin.......

He's a proven player, wants to be a starter and paid like one. The Cowboys don't need that from him. He is gone and I hope they can replace him.

Probably a situation where he leaves if someone wants to give him starter money. We gave him 2.5 mill last year. Likely a bit north of that to keep him.

Me, I'd go 3 years 12 mill to not have to worry about swing anymore

Agreed. Why wouldn't he test the market? I'd guess we have an offer on the table for him that he'll take if he doesn't get a starting job with starter cash.

It would be really nice if he signed a huge contract and paid huge minutes for someone else and we netted a premium comp pick for losing him.
