Looks like Reggie Nelson had himself one heck of a good workout in Florida's pro-day. He may no longer be available to us w/ our 1st rounder. I still prefer Blalock w/ our 1st BUT I liked the idea of Nelson still being available should we choose to go that route especially if we don't get a FS in FA. Oh, well.... :mad:

Different track, different time, doesn't matter to much.

The guy is a heck of a football player. He's #2 behind Landry.

Teams generally disregard times at pro days of players who ran at the combine unless it's in reference to how fast or slow the track is compared to Indy when looking at the times of players who didn't run there.

FWIW, this time was on grass, which is definitely supposed to be slower than artificial turf. To churn out a 4.35 there is absolutely amazing.

Now, how he managed to cut more than a tenth of a second off of his combine time on a SLOWER surface is beyond me.

2007 Cowboys mock draft:
1. Justin Blalock RT, 6-4 330, Texas -> Colombo's replacement
2. Tim Crowder OLB/DE, 6-4 270, Texas -> Carp to ILB
3. Tarell Brown CB, 6-0 200, Texas
4. Paul Soliai DT/NT, 6-4 330, Utah
5. Justin Medlock PK, 6-0 200, UCLA

Did you run out of UT guys after the 3rd round?

Reggie nelson was the best defensive player in the SEC this year, that includes laron landry.

I wish everyone realized Nelson was most likely gonna get picked before we got our pick 2 months ago.

That way there would have been half the number of FS threads going around :)

Even w/ Canty, Spears, Ratliff, and Hatcher already on board?! Carriker can't play OLB, right?:confused:

Carriker is the second coming of Tyler Brayton. I watch a lot of Big XII football, and you could watch three Cornhusker games in a row and barely hear his name called. With all the talk of how overrated the Combine is, let's not forget how overrated the Senior Bowl can be when people put too much weight in it. One great week of practice does not a great football player make, ask Shante Carver.

Meanwhile, Reggie Nelson always made his presence felt when he was on the football field, particularly in big games. I would personally take him over Landry. He may not put up Landry's measurables, but he's got a wider skill set available to a creative defensive coordinator ... including the ability to cover the slot WR man to man in nickel. You can mix and mask coverages all day with someone like Nelson.

he'll be available...

and while I wouldnt be thrilled with taking a FS at 22, I'd definitely take him over Blalock or any other interior OL

we dont need DE's...the one's we have are quality talents
