Watching this game ATM. It's a shot for shot game ATM. Florida State scored first and then pulled a nice trick play out for a 2 point conversion to go up 8-0 (they got the ball first). Then Georgia Tech drove down and scored. Current score is 8-7.

Was watching College Game Day with Pat McAfee at a pub in Dublin yesterday chugging about 5 pints of Guinness in 1/2 hour. Dude was totally loaded.

FSU already working on not being selected for the playoffs,
Reminds me of that thread late last year when that user was claiming FSU was robbed of the playoffs and was going to play mad against Georgia.

Proceeds to lose to Georgia like 70 to 3 and now starts the season losing to an unranked Georgia Tech team

Was at the game. Looked like Georgia Tech made some defensive adjustments at halftime which neutralized the Florida State offence. Looked like the FSU QB can only read one side of the field and the GT safeties were able to guess this and adjust.

Football is cyclical and it seems very much as if teams are trending back toward ground and pound.
Want to throw Marquise Bell sized LB out there? OK, offenses will make you pay.

FSU flat got bullied.

I doubt it will ever come close to three yards and a cloud of dust. But with so many teams now set up to pass and defend the pass, a team ready to grind it out will have an advantage if they can defend the pass.
Lombardi once said about passing
"When you pass, there are a lot more things that can go wrong. And usually worse then anything in a run."

and there are a fair number more picks then fumbles; plus a lot more pick sixes than fumble recoveries for TDs; and how many of those come from running plays and not something else. You almost always lose more yards on a sack then a tackle for loss.

GaTech beat the 10th ranked team in the country with 2 to 1 rushing to passing attempts.
WILD. After the air raid offenses forced Nick Saban to open it up and pass himself not even 10 years ago.

Look at how well Navy has done over the years with an option offense.
and their talent is basically FCS.

Still pumped over this win.

Tech's HC is a former offensive guard from 1997 at his alma mater. While they will be 2nd place to Georgia for(Ever) he's done a good job in the short term getting their line looking competent and just snagged a 5 star OL for the 2025 class. They got a good back in Haynes and King is a good scrambler. But yea, if your front 7 can't stop the rush, there's no reason to not keep pounding the ball and eating clock when it's a close game.

I got tired of Paul Johnson's triple option, but man, I missed it after Collins performance here. Hoping Key is truly the answer at HC.

FSU QB has talent, but something is missing there.
Clemson saw it 2 years ago and moved on.

DJ was wildly overrated because he went to St John Bosco.
He's a solid QB to be sure but he is not special.
Probably should have been a low 4-star recruit. NOT BAD.
He isn't as athletic as people pretend though.

Last year he completed 65% of his passes in only 2 ball games.
He also ran for 20+ yards total in only 2 ball games.

He needs to be in a play-action based attack with a strong running game.
He's not accurate enough to lead the spread attack and not a good enough runner to handle Read-Option sets.
He is a solid pro style QB.
Big enough to stand in a pocket and take shots while delivering it to Tight Ends and backs underneath.
Then a strong enough arm to take a few shots per game when defenses creep up.

FSU was robbed.
They were undefeated and found a way to win the ACC CG with the 3rd string QB.
They then had 20 players opt out of the bowl game in which they were blasted to smithereens.

Make no mistake this would have never happened had the SEC champion not lost a home non-conf game. But the powers that be couldn't promote Georgia over Bama and wasn't going to present a CFP without an SEC school.
So FSU got jobbed.

With a 3rd string QB were they a top 4 team? Probably not. But if you don't credit an undefeated P4 season than stop even bothering to host games and just name your 8-12 teams and skip the season.
Had that been Bama who was undefeated and down to QB3 they would have been a 1 seed.
