Florio of PFT to appear on NFL Network

I like the PFt site. I don't know why people get so worked up about it. He labels his stories as "rumor mill". He is also fairly clear when he is editorializing that it is just his opinion. When he posts rumors, he does not generally declare them as fact. He does a good job of providing links to the items he writes about. He injects humor into his posts (well, sometimes).

What's the problem?

A whole lot of people are PO'd that they didn't think of it first?

Not my brother in law, .. but I do know his 2 brothers in law, his sister in law, and his wife, .. and his father & mother in law for that matter.

My wife knows his wife better than I do because she had their children in the pre-school where she taught.

I coached his nephew so that's how I know him and his clan.

Like I said, its amazing to me, and only in America could this guy make money for his NFL expertise on a national scale.:

WV, what's he like? And what kind of law does he practice anyhow? I've always wondered how the guy finds the time to be a practicing attorney and keep the site updated, which he does a diligent job of.

PFT ON NFLN?

Though we're not quite sure how it happened, and we have a feeling that we'll somehow find a way to screw it up, the PFT virus is currently scheduled to invade the NFL Network airwaves on Friday.

Specifically, PFT hack-in-residence Mike Florio will appear on a special free-agent edition of The Point After, which will air at 6:30 p.m. EST on Friday.

We emphasize that all of this is tentative. There's a good chance that someone at the NFL Network will come to his/her senses between now and Friday afternoon. But until further notice assume that it is happening.

Stay tuned. Literally.

Too funny, hes made a living by making up stories to draw attention to his website. Pretty sad commentary on the NFL network.

My dad drove a yugo. It was the hotness.

We had no money when I was little. :(

No I just have better things to do then read gossip columns with no factual basis behind them. The same reason I dont read the National Enquirer and other garbage. I could care less if they exist, I feel sorry for anyone pathetic enough to spend thier times reading it and I dont want to see garbage like that on a serious forum. There is a time and place for that crap but the NFL Network isnt it. Thats like puttin a gossip show on CNN, wrong time and place.

He's a nice guy, his wife is a lawyer too I believe.

In the yellow pages, it says he specializes in "Firings, Layoffs, & Other Problems at Work", ... whatever kind of lawyer that is.

Don't get me wrong, he is a nice enough guy, we always speak, .. it is just amusing to me that anybody is interesed in his NFL opinion since he lives in WV and has no NFL experience.

And yet here he is, going on NFL network, to talk NFL football, .. hilarious.

I am not sure you have read the site much, at least not lately. It is not how you describe it.
NFL Network is having him on an opinion segment about Free Agency. What is the problem?

You think this place is a serious forum? I consider it entertainment. Yes there are serious discussions, but it's all based on sports entertainment.

You do realize CNN has entertainment segments during their Headline News updates. They also have Larry King, who's as close to a gossip show on CNN as you can get.

It's all relative. For me, PFT has about the same value as all the blogs that the sports writers have started up. They take news and offer an opinion. They just happened to be backed by legit sports news agencies.

The problem by doing that they are representing him as an expert or someone who is knowledgeable about what is going on and he isnt either of those things.

Back in the day it used to be NFLTalk.com.

Now I am not sure but I think it was Florio and another guy that ran the site.

It was much more respectable back then. Now it is turd this or turd that but back then it was much better.

It also broke stories more often back at that time.

At one point they decided they wanted to see if there was interest in people investing in the site to take it to another level.

After that drive started ESPN came out of the blue and bought the site...which as I later was told was integrated into ESPN and basically turned into ESPN Insider.

A little time after that Florio comes back out with his site and it is turd this and turd that with goofy stuff.

The difference is they arent protraying Larry King as an expert on world news, its a talk show. PFT is like the other crap outlets in that they try to represent themselves as legitimate news media when they clearly are not. Alot of the stories on PFT are bogus and made up. I have no problem with people who want to visit his site but dont stick him on the NFL Network and try and push him off as a legitimate source of information or an expert.

Since they always rag on themselves I don't see how your thoughts really apply.

They have, on occasions, broke stories and they just do what rumors are floating around.

Also they are, from what I have read over the years, clear to say they are in no means reporting facts when giving their rumors or OPINIONS.

I mean it is cool if you don't like them but I don't know why you are getting worked up about it.

If this guy is going on he is just going to be doing a few seconds/minutes of opinion pieces.

Or as Sgt Hulka and boozeman would say...Lighten up Frances.

I guess Im just getting a bit tired of all the opinion based coverage of sports. Most of the sports media these days just shoot from the hip with no regard for doing research or presenting a knowledgeable opinion. The day of expert insight is being replaced with Joe Blow commentary that I can do without. I expect better from ESPN and the NFL Network.

I distinctly remember NFLTalk.com being one of the first to break the news of Carolina RB Fred Lane's murder back in 2000.

Yeah it sucks.

Not just sports but news in general.

I think local news may be the last ones that really stick to the stories instead of making up stuff or jumping the gun to get a story.

But of course living in WV there is just nothing in my neck of the woods interesting enough to worry about watching the local news on a regular basis.:D

You do remember that Gilligan was from WV.

He brought back the Professors plan to use the bamboo bike generator to WV when he got off the island.

Luckily for us we got the plans before he smoked them. :laugh2:

I remember a couple down the street who owned a Yugo. Both were well over 300 lbs. (I have no idea how both fit in the car at the same time). You could tell when only one of them was in the car, because the car has a serious lean to the left. :lmao2:

I apologize to any weight-challenged people who may be offended.
