would like to keep him but just can't see giving him the kind of money he is going to want. We need to draft Michael Oher with one of our first rounders. Junior from Ole Miss.. 6/5 325 and an absolute beast. guy could start at LT for the next 10 years.

had we simply drafted Marcus McNeil, who has been an absolute stud, instead of Fasano.....then we wouldn't have to worry about that. We could let Adams walk and put McNeil there.

Actually, we could have moved Flozell to RT this year and let McNeil be our left tackle.....then Flozell would be able to hear better, since I believe it is his right ear that is deaf.

McNeil has been mediocre this year, drawing a ton of criticism from the Chargers media and their fans. Still a better prospect than Fasano, but certainly no cure all either.

Hell, I'd love to see Dallas draft a guy and have him step right in and be great. But chances are the guy struggles heavily his rookie year (almost all rookie O-Linemen, particularly Left Tackle struggle unless they're named McNeill or Joe Thomas) and then comes around his 2nd or maybe not until his third year.

I'm against letting Flo go because of this and having looked at the years where good teams turn bad in just a year span, it's usually due to the loss of key starting O-Linemen...either due to injury or to the team letting him go. Dallas can afford to keep Flozell unless he's asking for outrageous amount or they want to be really active in free agency. I don't see any reason to letting a guy that wants to play, who was a legit pro bowler, and probably has at least a year left in the tank.

As long as they can re-sign him to a reasonable contact...possibly something where they could cut him after 2008 and it would be feasible to do so, they should do so. Then they can allow McQ, Free, or Marten to take over. Personally I think the job is for a guy like Free since he's far more athletic than Marten or McQ. But, I think Free will need at least one more year until he's ready.

At some point, some of these young guys have to step up and replace some of our older parts...

Be it an offensive lineman, or WR, or whatever.

Its crucial that some of these draft picks the previous years and this years rookie class become solutions in the near future. Or we'll fall off just as fast as we rose to this season...

True, but why not try and wait until they are ready? Why let a perfectly fine (not great) O-Linemen go because he had a mediocre game? By the same token, we should've just started Romo right away because he had to step up. Instead we waited and got rewarded for it.

They could either franchise Flo or sign him to a decent 3 year deal where he's cuttable after a year. From there if he plays well in 2008, he's worth the new deal. If he plays terrible or gets injured, then Free or McQuistan or Marten will have to step up. If anything, that's a better way to play the percentages.

I am not saying necessarily next year. But soon. Very soon.

In particular, I am curious to see how we handle the S position. Do we invest another 5M annually in Hamlin....or do we see if Watkins is ready for the burden?

I wouldn't mind that since he did serve a purpose. I'm more concerned with Roy. He's not nearly as bad as people think. Hell, he got flack for yesterday and only gave up 1 catch. The problem is that his blitzing and run defense have become average and now he's been looking like an average safety since the second half of 2006. That's fine if Dallas is paying him average safety money, but unfortunately they are not.

I predict Flo is not a Cowboy next year.

And I am tired of the weekly penalties

Someone else brought this up, and I need my memory refreshed: is Colombo a free agent?

I actually think Flo is back next year. Good LTs are hard to find, and he still is one.

Bah-he's not nearly as bad as Luke Pettigout when it comes to false starts.

If anything, IF Free or McQ are ready, I would at least give them a chance-or move Columbo to LT, and have either one play RT.

Remember last year when Pettigout was released by the Giants, everyone thought their OL was in shambles. But apparently, Reese and Coughlin knew what they were doing b/c not only David Deihl(a Guard-converted-LT) has played well this year, but the amount of penalties went CONSIDERABLY down for that Giants' OL.

Hhhhhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmm.......................if we choose not to resign Flo, maybe we can get good fortunes like this too?

I'm generally in favor of keeping Flo to a "reasonable" contact.

BUT, a lot depends on what the staff thinks about Free. He's had a year on the bench now, plus he has the entire off-season to work on his technique and strength.

If the staff thinks Free is ready, I think Flo will be let go.

However, if the staff doesn't think Free is ready, I think we'll do whatever is reasonable to keep him.

If Flo is not re-signed, I would expect us to use a draft pick on another OT to compete with Flo and McQ.

We may be able to franchise him but we won't be able to afford doing much else in free agency... nor will we have the extra cash to extend Newman next year.

I actually think there will be a battle in camp between McQ and Free for the LT spot.

You know I just don't see us doing much in FA, maybe a mid level player, especially if we resign Hamlin and Franchise Flo, but I'm O.K. with that.

I do think we need a vet WR to possibly replace Glenn.

Also, I really hope we upgrade Reeves in FA as well.

If we can do those 2 things and re-sign Hamlin and Flo (depending on our assessment of Free/McQ), I think we've done well in FA.

In the Draft we can pick up another 1-2 RBs, if necessary, another OL, CB, etc.
