LOL I've had bronchitis for awhile and I'm a marathon runner. Haven't really been able to run lately because of it, rather annoying.

Too many cases of this happening. The viruses aren’t really dead but weakened or deactivated. If a persons immune system is weakened when receiving a flu shot, they can get the flu. A perfectly healthy feeling person may get the flu if he takes a shot when his immune system may have been fighting something he wasn’t aware of, which is most of the time. Viruses are master mutaters. Science tries to be precise but is never exact.

Some people get a reaction/side effect from that shot that can have some flu-like traits. I think most people are spoiled nowadays and forget what its like to really have a bad flu . They can be headaches, fever and muscle aches to name a few. These symptoms wear off in a couple of days Vs weeks the flue could last.
