FO: 2016 Draft

We will get 4-5 all Pros this year, hater

Stephen knows best
Exactly, that's why Stephen doesn't use FA and believes Super Bowls aren't won in the offseason. I remember in the 94 season at training camp Aikman was complaining to Jason Garrett, I think Jason Garrett. But anyway Troy was complaining about Jerry hyping up every draft pick like he's an all pro. Troy was specifically speaking of Shante Carver. But a hot mic picked it up. Kind of funny. If I find it I'll post it.

In hindsight the best move would’ve been Ramsey over Zeke.

But I have no regrets about Zeke. I know many do but Zeke and Dak brought a solid foundation and brought promise to this team. I get it’s resulted in no championships but they are a big part why we sit here year in and out and expect a championship.
I'd still take Zeke over Ramsey. I think the issue was taking zeke and then deciding to have KM run the offense.

Some of the busts or bad picks that they covered is one reason I don't get too upset with who is picked. We have people here who blast a pick or stand up for a certain player who seem to disappear when the Cowboys' pick turns out well and the player they wanted does not. Lots on here who were upset over the Parsons pick last year. I wanted a corner because I felt that was our top need, but just didn't see the need to hate the pick when we had no idea how he'd turn out.

I think the last pick that I absolutely backed may have been Bobby Carpenter, and we know how that turned out. So I just go with the flow and hope for the best now. I do have my favorites, but if they aren't chosen, then what do I know?
Great comment, Vinnie2u.
I don't do mock drafts. But if I did, I would do an alternate one that would reflect my second preferences for each round. Or - would do an honest assessment of what the Cowboys did - even if the picks were for a different position than what I wanted for each particular round.
But you and I know two-thirds (or more) of the CZers will express displeasure each and every selection because they didn't match their choice exactly....or deem the pick wrong due to the "value" of the player.

Drafting a RB as high as top 5 overall ?

i would have to be completely sold that this RB is a generational player, (Bo Jackson like draft grades) what he can do on a physical level that can totally change how the rest of the NFL has to
defend him, what he does for our team, and what stands him out vs the RB crop in recent 1st rounds.

I do not believe in drafting a RB in the 1st round .- .just for the sake of needing to fill the RB role.
And the next thing you know there's Trent Richardson, Felix Jones, Jon Stewart, Tim Worley, Rashard Mendenhall, CJ Spiller, Rashaad Penny,..etc. being invested in 1st round.

And we have to be careful about high productivity and highlights by college level. When it comes to lesser level competition vs NFL, college play can make some RBs appear better
than what they are. Reggie Bush was awesome dynamic human highlight at USC, but at the NFL level his game seemed more suited as a nickel, change pace back.

Even 2-3 years down the road, these draft "redos" are wildly different from what actually happens.

That's why "value" is pure crap.

Additionally, it's tough to even fill out one round of solid players from any entire draft.

That's why thinking one team getting 4-5 of them in any one draft is a ridiculous notion.

Please tell Steve Jones...

2016 Draft

- at the time, Zeke was a Adrian Peterson like RB, and took the NFL by storm with his blend of size, power, speed. Garrett only knew 90's pound football and
we just did not take to extensive longevity with ZKE.

- We not only struck gold with finding a under the radar gem in Dak as a franchise starting QB that managed to send Romo into retirement, we also got extremely lucky avoiding major disaster with
failed trade for mega-bust Paxton Lynch, ..and JAG QB Conner Cook (Raiders) in the 3rd round.

- i have no regrets gambling on Jaylon Smith in the 2nd rd., as he was projected to be a top 10 overall talent before the tragic knee issue. Knee proved more chronic than expected.
but he wasn't as instinctive as his profile projected. .

I'd still take Zeke over Ramsey. I think the issue was taking zeke and then deciding to have KM run the offense.
I just don’t like Ramsey….think he’s overrated too. Just a diva and probably would’ve accomplished even less with him.

Most of the time at least half of the players we select I don't remember seeing in anyone's mock draft. We tend to mostly just regurgitate the same names. I mean, raise your hand if you had Nashon Wright in your mocks last year. Anyone? Anyone? Buehler?

I wonder where Prescott goes in a redraft. Does Philly just take him at #2? I don’t think LA takes him at #1. Or would teams value the elite guys at their positions like Hill and Ramsey more?
