A blurb:

If they can beat the Giants in New York, they should cruise to a division title, and frankly, Romo would probably get my vote for MVP. Look at how he’s turned their season around! Coming into this week, he’s second in the NFL in passer rating, and he just might be first after this five-TD performance. Yes, he’s absolutely a candidate for MVP at this point, bad pass defense of the Bucs or not. He’s got to come up big next week in New York for this to matter, but odds are he will. Oh, and it’s not like I’m biased because he’s starting for my fantasy football team or anything. (Ok, maybe a little…)

If I were voting, I'd have LaDainian followed by Drew Brees (ironic, isn't it)? A big part of me says Brees deserves it because he has meant SO much to the Saints' revival. They'll need to win their division and clinch one of the top two seeds to really get that bandwagon going, though. Tomlinson's stats are just too impressive to pass him up as the MVP.

Romo has no chance to win it after not starting six games. But by season's end, I do think he'll become a trendy pick as "If he had started from Game 1, he could have been the MVP..."

I can see both LT and Brees, and IMO, Brees is perhaps a bigger part of what NO is doing than Romo is for Dallas. I think Romo has better receivers, for one.

But.. Romo has taken a 3-3 team to 7-4, and if the Boys go deep into the playoffs, he'll get a lot of credit for that. I wouldn't have posted the FO comments if I didn't think the talk was deserved.

David.

LT is the MVP hands down. I love me some Romo, but he is not in the discussion at this point.

Romo isn't going to be included in the MVP conversations this year, but if this team goes on to win the Superbowl you couldn't argue that he isn't deserving. Now I realize that is a BIG ol' if, but I can absolutely see this team making a real run at it.

LT is the NFL's best player followed by Peyton Manning and Tom Brady. It is an elite list proven over multiple seasons. Larry Johnson is skyrocketing up that list and Romo's star is also rising, but let's see it proven over the long haul before throwing out accolades higher than probowl status.

Greatness, health, consistency, and persistence make those three truly elite and worthy of being MVPs. Drew Brees gets an honorable mention, but let's see him do it again next year.

I'd agree with both of your top 2 votes.

I'm thinking MVP is meant for what you did in a season...not the last two or three or ten. So, yes, IF Romo were to take us to the SB, then he'd definitely be worthy of the award.

I agree.

When is the league MVP awarded anyway?

My recollection is that it's after the regular season ends, right before the playoffs.

Am I right?

Romo winning the SB MVP would more than offset the regular season MVP snub...

How 'bout them Cowboys!?!

I think Romo would much rather be the SB MVP then the NFL's MVP. I know Aikman was very happy to be the SB MVP in Jan 93 while I think Fabre was the NFL MVP but could be wrong about Fave--maybe he won NFL MVP in 93 or 94, whatever.

Frankly, I've always thought Favre continued to play cause he loved the game but also cause he wanted to win more SBs; think it stuck in his craw that he only has 1 SB ring compared with Aikman's 3.

I'd agree. The MVP isn't a lifetime achievment award (That's the HOF, duh), and shouldn't be treated as such.

I find it funny that people try to find excuses of why Romo *can't* be good. I can see at first, but after awhile those excuses run dry.

Carolina, Indy and Arizona are all in the top 15 in QB rating allowed (and that's *after* they played Romo who only hurt their QB rating). Yet, he torched Zona, played very well against Carolina and went 19-23 against Indy. He then ran roughsod through the Skins which was highlighted by a dropped 74 yarder by Owens (not to mention the other drops by Owens so far) and torched the porous TB pass defense.

In essence, he's had virtually no problems passing the ball in every single start and has looked like Joe Montana in Super Tecmo Bowl against the really poor pass defenses.

I don't think he's an MVP given how well Peyton has played all year long and Tomlinson keeps racking up yards and TD's, but going to the "he only torches poor defenses" is not only lame, but incorrect.
