When I saw the earlier posting comparing Jones vs Barber, it got me thinking about what they've done this year. Additionally earlier today, I posted that Barber had run for over 1000 yards so far this year. Looks like we almost certainly will have 2 RBs with over 1,000 yards each this season. Here's full stats for both:

2006

1) Julius Jones - 11 games *853 yds rushing 4.0 avg 33 lg 3 TDs
11 games 111 yds rec. 18.5 avg

2) Marion
Barber III 11 games 1030 yds rushing 4.4 avg 28 lg 14 TDs
11 games 146 rec. 10.4 avg

*Jones needs only 147 yards to reach 1,000 rushing. Be nice if he could make it all against the Giants but more probably he will do it at home against the Saints if he can avg 74 each game

Those are Barber's career rushing stats. He has 492 yards this season.

exactly cause barber is the better back

Jones is an ok straight ahead back who doesnt fumble, and blocks good- thats all

He cannot make defenders miss, nor is he a capable receiver.

I would love to see us draft a playmaker rb in round 1 or 2 next year-

Barber runs more viciously, sees the holes better, can make defenders miss, is great around the goal line and is the better receiver. Barber definitely deserves to split the carries the rest of the year.....

I hate that Stephen Jackson trade more and more as each game passes...jmhi

I think I heard all this stuff about a back up RB being better when Troy Hamsandwhich was Emmitt's back-up and was averaging over 5 yards a carry.

We all know how that turned out. If it weren't for his 2 games against the Commanders, Hamsandwhich wouldn't have reached 700 yards for the season.
