If Fairly and Peterson are gone, how do you feel about Quinn from UNC. Would be a perfect fit in any 34 scheme. Also, he gives some scheme diversiblity. Can play with hand down or up and if we get a DC that does the only one lineman with there hand down (i.e., GB, Jets, etc...) you can get Quinn, Rat, Ware and Spencer on the field at the same time.

Last item, it provides depth and and insurance policy for Spencer. I like Spencer, but he did not have a good year. By my count (I'm sure others will disagree) he has only played 1/2 season of 1st round draft quality football.

Quinn is a beast and at 6'5" 270lbs and running a 4.5 forty, he is perfectly suited to play over the TE in a 34 scheme. I look for his stock to rise on draft day. If you beleive in the theory, you can never have enough pass rushers, then he will move up post combine. And he is not just a workout guy, he has the stats to back up his play.

I know we have other needs, but games are won in the trenches, and in a 34, the OLB are in the trenches. They are the engine that drives a 34. The soul is the two ILB and the NT.

I would not be mad if we went this route and I'm on record as saying we need two new starters on the OL.

Some teams may have medical concerns about Quinn. In high school, he was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Even though doctors told Quinn his playing career may be over, he persevered. One thing that can't be questioned about Quinn is his effort. He's a classic to-the-whistle player and gives a great second effort. To stay as a 4-3 end, Quinn needs to get stronger to help support the run. But he showed in 2009 that he has the athleticism to move to outside linebacker in a 3-4 system. Gets compared to DeMarcus Ware of the Cowboys, but isn't quite as complete of a player. However, he has the upside to get there. Offseason workouts will be huge for Quinn.

The bolded part reminds me of scouting reports on both Ratliff and Clay Matthews from GB. Non stop motors. Add the motor to his skill set and he is going to be a beast.

I like Quinn, obviously a lot of question marks about him and I don't buy the whole hype about him being "the next ware", but he's certainly an interesting prospect and a possible target for our pick.

I take the hype about any guy being compared to Ware as, he has the ceiling to make the conversion from DE to OLB. Not many will equal Ware. Ware is a one in a decade type player. Great on the field and even better off the field. Can play the run or the pass. Very few words and lots of action.

I like Quinn. He skill set reminds me of Merriman coming out of MD. Both big guys with good feet and very athletic. I'm not as concerned about the money he took from an agent. While its not right, 20 year old kids tend to behave like 20 year old kids. He paid the price, and I'm ok with moving forward.

high motor players make it in this league. I think that's what happen to vernon golston he just didnt seem like he has a motor. What happen to Vernon(sp?) golston anyway with the jets. During draft time he was the talk of the draft about being the next beast. He waffled in the pan.:laugh2:

Imagine on 3rd down and only having to rush 4, ware, spencer, rat, and Quinn. Somebody 9/10 will get to the QB unless it is a max protect play than the recievers should be well covered.

Newton, Green, Peterson, Bowers, Fairley, Gabbert, Another QB, Amukumara

Thats 8. Really would like to see Dareus or Julio Jones jump into that group to push one of the non-QB's to us.

I would be very happy with Quinn, right now I like him better than anyone not named Fairley. But I'm not through studying. He seems to be off the charts athletically and has a high motor. Very good pass rusher. I want to see how he test at the combine and the brain tumor is a major red flag. He sort of reminds me off a faster Tony Tolbert. Sign me up for that.

I'm hoping Marcel Dareus goes somewhere in the Top 8 for the simple fact it will take him off the board of potential players Dallas could select.

I think Dareus is JAG.

I've been saying we could be drafting Spencer's replacement for awhile now. He was the biggest reason for the defense taking a huge step back IMO.

Alot of good 3-4 OLB's in this draft. I like Quinn, though his impact might be a yr or two away. I like UCLA's Akeem Ayers and Ryan Kerrigan from Purdue too.

Quinn or Ayres would be better at 9 than forcing an O Lineman in that spot. I am not as sold on the two DB's who both likely be gone any way. I like Kerrigan but more in the teens.

I am a big fan of Quinn. The last game renewed my faith in Spencer and if healthy and in a contract year like he is, I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt. But if we draft Quinn, I will be excited.

I was a huge Spencer supporter when he came out of Purdue. I still think he's a quality player because he's generally a very good run stopper, however, 3 sacks through 15 games this season is unacceptable.

The two sacks he racked up against the Eagles 2nd/3rd teamers in a meaningless game are negligible to me.

He needs to be pushed; Quinn would be that kind of player.

I don't think the team views Victor Butler as a fulltime starter, and I believe they think even less of Brandon Williams (and understably so...).

Spencer needs to be pushed to perform better or just to be pushed out of the way for someone better.

Not a fan of Quinn at all. He sucks. Just stay away from him. Comparing him to Ware, a pro player, is just incomprehensible.

And his measurables mean nil. Or his production. I still heart Spencer. I think in 3 more seasons, Spencer can be a solid 5-7 sack man. With Spencer on the team, Quinn is unnecessary.

If spencer has not been able to do it consistently by now he never will.

Barbie Carpenter could have got us 5-7 sacks per season. If this is Spencer's ceiling, then he has to go.

come on without come on with in you'll not see nothing like the mighty Quinn
