For over 27 yrs we have bought into Jerry and now Stephen fools gold. We all want to blame the Jones but it is us as Fans that we should be mad at. Take a look in the mirror, we are the ones who keep coming back every year thinking in the back of our minds "This year is going to be different"
Does it Change?? Hell NO
Don't most people tend to learn from their mistakes, not the Jones oh no back a few years ago when we let Dez go what bull did they feed us? 'We're going WR by committee" How did that work out?? We finally go get a WR and give up a 1st rd pick only to let him go for peanuts. Did we go out and fill our cupboard? Hell NO
Didn't we lose two starting OL did the Jones do anything to upgrade? Hell NO
I love what Tyron Smith has done for this team but We all know he is wearing down yes he is better than most LT out there but we didn't prepare for a good backup. So we are out there scrambling for his replacement. Seriously an LT or swing tackle this late in the game??
Cooper Rush is our backup QB Seriously?
Jerry doesn't put Dak on IR because he is probably going to rush him back. Please tell me that you are not buying his bull**** that we feel he can be back sooner. Oh and "we like Cooper"
I love the history of the Cowboys but man they make it so hard to believe in them when it is the same crap from our delusional owners.

Post from a very frustrated fan!

So what are the realistic options?

1. Change teams
2. Quit watching football
3. Have no team just watch
4. Complain
5. Hope that the coaches and players overcome the owner’s weakness
6. Give up and get upset when others don’t give up and try to persuade them to give up.

What else?

Have to try and wait them out win by attrition.
Not a bright future there though I think there's more Jones's than I have years left

Understand the situation and watch it with limited expectations. I'm starting to gear my head towards watching the game as if I'm watching a fictional movie. No emotional investment. Try not to let it effect my moods. Get on this site and talk about the game and interact with fellow fans/friends but at the end of the day accept it's entertainment and not let it ruin my moods anymore. I don't think I could stop being a Cowboys fan, it's in my DNA.

Being a fan of a sports team is a decision to "love them no matter what", not just when things are going well for them. I have been a fan of the Boys since I can remember first seeing football, and will always be entertained watching one of their games and hope the best for them. I no longer take them on as part of my identity or think for one minute I can control the outcome of a season, much less a game, or a play by my actions. This has been a learning process, as I used to be so caught up in the results of a game that I would get angry and become a jerk to those around me after every loss.

My biggest recommendation would be to let go of any thoughts that you have one ounce of control over the team and minimize situations (family, friends, work) where your value is partially determined by your fandom. The more you make your identity and your self-worth based upon any sports team, the more pain and frustration you will feel when they don't operate according to your expectations. This is the way. :D

Blimey!
This is the first post ever that has addressed 26 years of Cowboys' futility and how the fans have been fooled all that time.
Good post!

I admit it. I am a Cowboys junkie.
Jerry could go 5-12 for the next 10 years and I'd still return for the drama, crazy personnel moves and how the overpaid players live up to their hype.
This year, ad stated, I am happy to focus on player development, personnel m ooo VES and our evolving Defence. Our O sucks lemon fritters.

Add some other teams to your like list ! I do. It helps me enjoy the season regardless what cowboys do.

As for the cowboys you have to learn to enjoy them for what they are.

The last time I bought it was 2016. After another one-seed flop I went into I'll believe it if I see it mode.

I expected to lose the Niners playoff game last season. The Cards game 2 weeks earlier was a warning.

That "we" you used does not include me or a lot of others here. Why would anyone listen to two of the least knowledgeable NFL management people in the league?

And the defense of Booger or his son is laughable. Equating experience to time on the job; they're not even similar. One is merely the passage of time.

This really spoke to me and I completely relate. The serenity prayer comes to mind.

God, grant me the serenity
To accept the things I cannot change
The courage to change the things I can
And the wisdom to know the difference
