So basically you're going to believe wikipedia which is wrong all the time rather than trust years of personal experience, and continue to spread wrong information because you are completely incapable of ever admitting to being wrong. Gotcha.

I am going by what I was taught sir, by a Hall of Fame football coach. Wikipedia and answer.com were nothing more than the two searches that popped up the fastest. I have tremendous respect for your football background. If you take this as disrespect then there is nothing I can do about that.

Surely you admit, football terminologies differ from team to team. This is the way my college coach saw it, and taught it, and the way I know it.

That's great stuff Hostile! I think would be kind of nice is to have an Educational Zone with posts like this. Whether it's written by someone that is a forum member or some other author, I just think it would be nice to have that knowledge base right at our fingertips.

Perhaps the Educational Zone could be similar to the Daily Zone where members could respond to the threads, but those who were allowed to start threads were restricted to those who were selected by administration.

Just a thought.

As of today we are giving it some thought.

I like pure football threads and earlier today some friends and I were talking about how there aren't enough of them. So I decided this could be fun.

Some of you may not know that in football parlance there are numbered running lanes. So I thought this might be helpful to describe them. If it isn't, I apologize.

There are 10 running lanes designated by the numbers 0 to 9. Odd numbered lanes are to the left of the Center. Even numbered lanes are to the right of the Center.

There are two running lanes on each side of the Center designated by the smaller numbers. Running lanes 2 and 3 are called the "trap lanes" meaning special trap blocking opens those lanes. Running lanes 0 and 1 are called "sneak lanes" meaning those are lanes for QB sneaks.

If a RB hits the hole on either side of the Center he is hitting the 2 or 3 hole even if it is not a trap. The lanes are still called the "trap lanes" regardless of the type of blocking ahead of the RB.

The gap between 7 and 9 on the left is if the TE pulls or lines up on the left side to make it "strong" or a 2 TE set with both TEs wide of the OTs.

Here's a snapshot of how the Running Lanes look along the LOS.

WR...9...7...LT...5...LG...3...1...C...0...2...RG...4...RT...6...TE...8...WR

Hopefully this makes some sense to you and you enjoy knowing the information.

Wow it's like a blast from the past. I remember learning that in like the 4th grade. Good way to jog the memory. Do you have a defensive one also?

My town did. it's kind of like pop warner. But it started in the fourth grade. There was 3 teams A B C. A team was 8 th grades B team 6th and 7th and C team 4th and 5th graders. Some players would get pushed up if they were really good. It was kind of like their we're coaching us for High school since most of the coaches were like assistant at the High school level. So we all the coaches would know us and stuff.

I'm planning to do one. I just did another on a requested subject regarding the X, Y, and Z receivers and I mixed it in with info on the LOS.

Yeah I saw that the post was a bit longer but I didn't read the whole thing. But did look at the formation the one that caught my eye was the single back 2 TE 2 WR set. That seems like something that will could work nice for us.
