Last year I did a series of 6 threads about basic football nomenclature and terminology. I was wondering if anyone was interested in any topics that I didn't cover? Or if I shouldn't do any more of them please let me know as well.

Last year I covered these topics.

1. Running Lanes
2. Injury Designations
3. 7+ Men on the Line of Scrimmage and Motion
4. Defensive Gap Assignment on the Line of Scrimmage
5. The Passing Tree
6. The QB Rating System

Oh, and I should also say, I do not claim to be the know all, end all of these subjects. If someone else wants to explain any of them please just let me know.

You may want to provide links for the old threads. I am very surprised at the lack of basic football knowledge by some posters on this site, so anything that helps in this regard should reduce frustration levels in some threads. It also provides an opportunity for people to discuss differences in their experiences like when you went over hole numbering and others mentioned different numbering schemes they had worked with.

Some of us a fairly new here and didn't get a chance to read those. It would be a nice read. Especially this time of year.

Thought those were great explanations on the basics.

Not sure about the '101'-ness, but maybe something about the differences between a run blitz and a pass blitz on defense?

And conversely something about how line adjustments get identified and handed off between the offensive linemen?

The lineplay is so important to the game, but so much harder to follow on the screen.

I've always wanted to understand more about blitzing, specifically various philosophies, techniques, and what makes a particular blitz "exotic". It would be interesting to compare techniques between either two successful 3-4 defenses or between a good 3-4 and a good 4-3 scheme.

This place needs a football forum. Where you can actually talk about the game itself, and not the teams.

As it is now, the most applicable forum for this type of thread is the sports zone.

Fan Zone: Dallas Cowboys talk. A discussion on block shedding techniques does not apply, unless it involves a Dallas Cowboy.
NFL Zone: NFL talk. A discussion on route combinations versus single high safety does not apply, unless it involves an NFL team.
Sports Zone: Everything not Dallas Cowboys or NFL.
