Eighteen years ago, a refugee kid from Dnipropetrovsk, Ukraine, USSR, shocked the NFL Combine with 41 reps on the bench press.

He was known as the "Pain from the Ukraine." He became the first USSR born person to play in the NFL. He was selected by the Chargers in the second round. He also played with the Cowboys and Dolphins.

It seemed that once he got married, his career went downhill.

His hometown, now known as Dnipro, has not been overrun.

Igor was a pretty average player. Best season was 2007 with 3.5 sacks, 3 forced fumbles and 3 passes batted down. He was a bust with Dallas.

Best Ukrainian NFL player was Buckets Goldenburg who played 13 seasons with Green Bay as a FB and RG.

IMO he was a solid DE for the 3-4.

Sad stuff from over there. Wife is from there and has a few family members still in Ukraine due to being men from 25-57~ years old.

Why click on a thread with Ukraine in the title if you don't want to discuss "the sensetive subject"? Why even mention it yourself when the thread was actually about football?

OK, it took me a while to put a face to the name, but the 3-4 mention did it.

Nothing but respect for guys like that, and even the former heavyweight champion, who are coming to fight with their countrymen.
