I saw this on a post about Adam Jones, wearing red tinted contacts, that supposedly to help him track the ball on punt returns and kickoffs, would that help roy williams any? Since, it has been documented sometimes he has trouble locating the ball on deep balls, the flight of the ball?

Jones is eyeing punt return job: If you happened to stand close to Adam Jones, you'll notice how bloodshot his eyes look. But not to worry. He's actually wearing red-tinted contacts to make it easier to pick up the ball on punts and kickoffs.

When has this been "documented"?

One of the things he does well is track the ball in the air. Sometimes he simply doesn't have the speed to get where it's going.

I would assume they have spoken and RW has chosen not to use them......RW hits folks so hard that he is most likely seeing red anyhow

jenn engel said when the ball is deep downfield and in coverage, that roy has trouble with the deep flight of the ball, im not trying to knock on roy;

what im asking football gurus, i have never heard of punt or kickoff returners wearing red tinted contacts to see the ball when it is coming at you deep and high, so i was just thinking, if this is true, would it help roy on deep flights of the ball when he is in coverage.

i believe you never leave any stone uncovered and if you see or find something, you use that too if its an advantage to help the player if need be,

so i was just asking the football experts if defensive backs can use that, we all know sometimes in the past, that sometimes our defensive backs didnt turn their head looking for the ball, maybe this would help them, was just curious;

they are nike contacts that are just supposed to reduce glare

think of them as sunglasses, not contacts

I think Pac uses reading glasses as well.

I do not think someone who has perfect eyesight would need to wear them.

May be wrong though.

I have some orange tinted sunglasses that reduce glare during rain, etc, and they work pretty great... so I have no doubt that they do work.

I haven't heard of this before in football but several years ago it was very popular in drag racing for drivers to wear red lens glasses. They said it gave them an advantage in seeing the lights change color.

I wear blue-blocker sun glasses and I love them. They make everything look sort of odd when you first put them on but you get used to it after a few minutes. The lenses are a dark orange color.

Our safeties already have a tendency to hit their own guys when tackling; I don't want it to be increased because everyone is wearing redish jerseys.

It doesn't affect coloring as much as you think it would. It mostly gives a light red shading to everything... blues are a little purplish, reds are richer red, whites are slightly pink, etc.

It's really not overpowering, just enough to kill glare. It works real well.

Oh well, if JENNIFER said it, it must be....nevermind.

I know the Texas Longhorns started using them a few years ago and had nothing but good things to say about them.

Red tinted lens, especially those that are mirrored, like for sunglasses, diminish glare by absorbing reflection across the mirror face. Therefore, ideal for most activities where glare is a major factor.

I have never heard of these but very cool stuff. I just did a search for them on Google and found a coupon for a free trial pair. I will have to check them out.

I used to use them when I played baseball, and I had to get them for my prescription...so I think you are right.

They made a pretty noticeable difference though. Much easier to pick up the ball as a catcher and as a hitter.
