I did a little research to hopefully get everybody primed for the Jets. Probably in vain since there's still burn Roy at the stake threads going on, but hopefully some of you will find this information interesting.

The NFL played 6 games on Thanksgiving day in 1920. For the next several years there was anywhere between 2 and 6 games played on Thanksgiving.

In 1934 the Detroit Lions started being a regular host of a game on Thanksgiving day. The Thanksgiving day games were suspended during WWII beginning in 1941. They resumed in 1945.

In 1951 Thanksgiving day games became just home games for the Lions. It continued this way until 1960 when the AFL decided to have games on Thanksgiving too.

In 1966 the NFL decided to trump the AFL and have 2 games adding the Dallas Cowboys to the schedule.

The Cowboys beat the Cleveland Browns 26-14 in their initial Thanksgiving appearance.

In 1967 the AFL added a 2nd game as well. The Cowboys kept on being the NFL's 2nd game until 1975 when they were replaced by Bills at the Cardinals. The NFL decided to give that game to the Cardinals and the Bidwell family when they realized how lucrative it was. They returned in 1976, and were again gone in 1977 when they were replaced by the Dolphins at the Cardinals.

Tex Schramm successfully lobbied to be the permanent home team for the 2nd NFL Thanksgiving day game and since 1978 the Dallas Cowboys have been hosting games on Thanksgiving.

The Cowboys are 25-14 all time on Thanksgiving.

And I have attended each Thanksgiving expect for the 1st 2 that Dallas played

What would Thanksgiving be without Dallas Cowboy football?!?

Thanks Hos for making me wish it was Thursday already!

I'm ready for food and football (in that order)!!

Have you really? Man, that's cool. I was going to attend the game against Cleveland in 1982, then I got stupid and blew up the transmission in my car drag racing.

Yes it became a family tradition. My mom came up with the ideal because she was the one stuck doing dinner and cleaning up while me and dad sat around watching the game so she said from now on we will go to the game and have Thanksgiving Day dinner at a nice hotel. That was 1968 and have gone to every Thanksgiving Day game since.

Smart woman.

Anyone hear Troy Aikman talking about us getting back-to-back home games for TDay is an unfair advantage?

lol, he never said that when he was a player

And a big Cowboy fan. When we went to the 1976 SB vs Pitt, we were sitting in the middle of Steelers country and when Bradshaw was knocked out after throwing the long bomb she stood up and said that is how we play in Texas. :laugh2: of course the Steeler fans responded that Terry had just throw a TD pass and she responded and it will be his last one today. :lmao2:

I thought they were going to mob us. :laugh2: Funny thing is as we left the Orange bowl after the SB game Pitt fans were hollering we won the game and many Cowboy fans were hollering but we won the money. Dallas was the underdog and cover the spread. :laugh2:
