is it the nfl or the network that hosts the super bowl that gets the money from the comercials? or is it a split thing...90/10 channel/nfl¿
not sure how all that works, but advertising is a HUGE source of revenue. what i dont know are things like:
average revenue per game watcher. if 1 million people watch the game, how much does pepsi, budweiser or whoever pay "per person" for their advertising?
then again, the network should get that $$$ because they bought the rights to show the games. so i suppose the NFL would lose that revenue from say FOX to reclaim those games and make them PPV. the cost per game would need to offset the loss of the network income.

Will there be a free, live broadcast over the internet from an off shore site if the NFL goes pay per view?
for awhile probably but that's only because the internet is still maturing. they could monitor sites like this i suppose and find people rebroadcasting it, but as you say, if offshore there's not much they'd be able to do to some server in china sporting a cowboys game.
