I live in Philadelphia, but it feels like I live in Dallas. Every sports segment features a story on TO. They just can't get enough of him.
It is pathetic if you stop to think about it. There is usually not a mention of the Eagles whatsoever, but TO is everywhere. Each sportscaster predicts a blowup between Parcells and Owens. While it may happen, I think BP will handle it well.
What no one and I mean no one in Philadelphia ever talks about is how poor the the Eagles front office relates to their players. TO was not the first player to feel like the organization was not taking care of him like they should.
Bottom line is the Eagles management has to share some of the blame in what happened with TO last year. What TO wanted was to be treated financially like he felt he deserved. While I understand the point of view of an owner who wants his players to honor their contracts. Teams have the power to release players at will and it is not unheard of for a player to outperform his contract.
No one in Philadelphia talks of what TO put himself through to get back on the field after the injury sustained when Roy put him down. TO was amazing in his comeback and was the best player on the field in the Super Bowl loss to the Pats, after something like a month rehab that was supposed to take twice as long.
The best thing to watch this coming season would be TO being a leader on and off the field for a dominating Cowboys team. The Philadelphia Press would go CRAZY!!
