For all you draftniks and Bowe fans...

I just don't see it. Bobby Carpenter notwithstanding, whoever we pick at 22 should be an immediate starter or be on the field at least 50% of the time. How is he gonna do that with TO, Glenn and Crayton clogging his path?

We have a winner

Someone should take note: When HH31 and bbgun start agreeing, it's time to man the lifeboats and abandon thread

w/ the "no contact" rule, you don't have to worry too much about trying to position yourself

not saying all you need is a great 40 time, but like you say, for a WR, it does matter

btw, Dwayne Bowe was productive in college, so it's not like he's just fast

All WRs drafted into the NFL were productive in some capacity in college, otherwise they wouldnt be drafted

yes, but Bowe exceeded in a tough conference

doesn't matter, you still gave me the whole heave, ho about 40 times are meaningless babble

In the long run, they are to a degree

I can't think of a single WR in NFL history who made his name on speed and nothing more.

I CAN think of many WRs who made their name on technique alone

Obviusly, if you run a 4.9, you're going to suck as an NFL WR, but since just about every legit prospect runs a 4.6 or better these days, that means very little

bottomline: the ability to seperate as a WR is key, you can do that 1 of 2 ways

run perfect routes, or just be too fast for CBs to stick w/ you constantly, preferrably both

So did Robert Ferguson

ok, Bowe is the next Ferguson

you made your point, you don't give a lick about 40 times, go crawl back in your hole

There's always going to be someone faster than you, ask Steve Smith

There's the crystal clear analysis from summer that we've all come to know and love

....Miami kid that for some ungodly reason got out of the state of florida. The guy is a playmaker!

Last time I heard that same statement, the Cowboys drafted the guy :)

Ill care what his 40 time is if we accually draft him. Then watch him run by a fast db. i like him cuz he is physical and big. 40 time without pads means nothing to most people

I doubt it. I think we'll go one of 3 positions: CB, OLB, or WR. A corner back won't contribute immediately. He might come on eventually in a nickel back role, but I doubt he start over even A. Glenn immediately. An OLB might contribute immediately, but that's only if Ellis isn't 100%, and by all accounts he'll be ready even before training camp.

Of those 3 positions (WR, OLB, and CB), receiver is the biggest need going into the future. So we may not want to draft someone that has a significant immediate impact, but has a significant future role on the team. This is what happens when you don't have any glaring needs on the team. Shocking isn't it?
