For anyone who questions Dallas' undying hatred for Philthy and their fans...

Damn shame his career had to end that way. I remember watching that game while on a beach vacation in southern North Carolina. Wasn't Dallas 4-0 going into that game? I seem to remember they were tearing up the competition until Irvin got hurt, but after it was like their heart was ripped out.

This one play changed a lot in recent Cowboys history. Not only did it obviously end an incredible career, I also firmly believed this injury, and the domino effect of receiver injuries afterwards, effectively got Chan Gailey fired.

You could even go further back that season and say it all started with McKnight tearing up his knee in that late July scrimmage. Had that not happened, at least he and Rocket could have given it a go as the starting receivers.

They were headed to 4-0 in that game, and I really believed the way Aikman was getting comfortable in Chan's offense during his second season, we would have ended up in an NFC Championship Game showdown with the Rams.

I've seen it in every sport... been in the stands in various arenas where it occurs. It's unfortunate not every fan can see the difference between sport and life. Such is life, sadly.

I've said that ever since. I really do feel like Dallas was one of the better teams in the NFC that year and would have made it to the NFC Championship. Would they have beaten the Rams? Dunno 'bout that... but would have been a good one.

This will be the year they get BACK to the NFC Championship game!

Ahh, the fruitless but nevertheless irresistible exercise of "what if", LOL. I know what you mean Henson, I really don't know if we would have beaten the Rams that year but it would've been something to see. Martz vs. Gailey in the playcalling department, with a full complement of offensive players on both sides, would have had the scoreboard operator working some serious overtime.

Don't really hate the Eagles team (not as much as the Commanders) but dislike some of their players and have always believed Buddy Ryan (when he was Eagles HC) deliberately set out to injury Aikman. I DO HATE Eagle fans with a passion. I was watching that game when Irvin went down and the TV showed several pictures of their fans cheering while Irvin was just laying there and also showed Eagle players trying to quiet down the crowd, etc. Besides how many cities need to keep a judge at the stadium because of the behavior of their fans. So I love it when the Eagles lose and if one of their players gets hurt I sure don't cry but on other never would cheer a player getting injuried. Just not right.

Actually when you think about it, it is an insult to the Giants, Skins & Cowboys that Eagles are even allowed to play in our division. They the only team with NO rpt NO Super Bowl wins; Eagle players should have to wear a patch on their uniforms (which also should be on all Eagle jerseys sold to any of their fans) signifying they only NFC East team with no SB wins. Eagle fans think they so great and better then other teams--particularly Cowboys. They call us pansies, etc., will who has won more games, who has more SB appearances & SB wins then us (admit SF & Steelers are tie in SB wins but that will change soon). Toughness of team is determined on the playing field and Eagles have shown over the years they aren't tough enough to win the big ones. Don't forget the Giants won SB in Jan 91, Skins in Jan 92, and Cowboys in Jan 93, 94 & 96.
