For Jerry Jones the Only Future is Now

The clock is about to strike midnight for Jerry's chance to win another Super Bowl and I sense that he is completely aware of this.

I believe he is going to mortgage the Cowboys future to win a SB this year or the next.

He may trade away future #1 picks. He may begin to restructure a lot of contracts that count very little this year and the next only to mushroom going into 2024.

Jerry is just selfish enough to leave the team a hollow shell.

Jerry doesn't realize that even if the team does win a Super Bowl it is pretty meaningless in the long run. You see, there are 32 teams in the NFL and if the parity was perfect, each team would win a SB every 32 years.

Which means:

Winning one SB would do nothing more than confirm the team's mediocrity under Jerry Jones without the team created by Jimmy Johnson.

Sorry, but don't buy it. Jerry's definition of going all in is now 25 years old. You know who i'm talking about. That's the last time he went all in......and now you know the rest of the story.

Blimey!
Such a bleak outlook.
You bring up desperation, selfishness, mortality and team future.

But, it has gold written all over it as in a screenplay!
A mountain looms as a young man runs across a jungle, chased by a giant bantam rooster. Close focus to his terrified eyes but Iguanatitus arrives to battle the bantam.
I tell you, together, we could have a gold screenplay, plastic bloke!

Jerry will live to be 103 years old. So the only question is how many Super Bowls between now and then?

You lost me at winning a superbowl is meaningless. What a terrible take. He's been conservative for a long time now and many of us are begging for some aggression.

But what does it mean in the long run other than it was our turn? There will be another Super Bowl next year and everyone will forget this one except the fans of that team.

This is about historic relevance. This is about which team is the best all time. The Steelers and Patriots have both won six Super Bowls, the Cowboys and the 49ers are tied for 3rd place with 5.

The Patriots are in 1st place for most SB's played with 11. The Cowboys are in a three way tie for 2nd place with the Steelers and 49ers with 8.

Did you know the Cowboys had the best winning percentage in the regular season for all franchises until last season when the Packers overtook them? The Packers have now won 57.3% of their games and the Cowboys have now won 57.2%.

When you are a fan of the Yankees.....or Lakers......or Cowboys......you look at the big picture. Win a championship? Been there, done that.

For Jerry Jones to be given credibility, something he craves more than anything, he must win two Super Bowls. It;'s about getting more than your "fair" share.

I disagree, it's important we get #6. You want to stop being a joke, then you have to make it to the promise land again.

This pattern isn't working. There are teams that made a run, went to cap hell and came back for another run since we last competed.

What we are stuck in now is the worst pattern. We aren't good enough to win it all, and not bad enough to blow it up. Something has to give.
12-5 is a good time to reach for the stars.

If they were going to mortgage the future they would have restructured Cooper as well as a few others and then made some big moves in free agency to grab more defense and some interior OLine help.

80 year old men aren't playing the long game, as evidenced by the new contracts for Gregory and Lawrence.

The Cowboys soured on Cooper and Collins, for reasons stated here many times. That's why one is gone and the other will soon follow. It's nothing to do with tanking, Sean Payton fantasies, or rebuilding.

Cowboys and winning another Super Bowl should not be mentioned in the same sentence at this point.
