For the first time in my life I am ashamed to be a Cowboys fan

Not because of the way the team plays either. And no I do not enjoy losing and I do long for that feeling that I had in the early 90's where every Sunday you were calm knowing your team was going to kick some butt.

What I am ashamed of is the lack of reality so many fans show...and I am aware of the irony of them calling themselves realists...it is a game people. It exists for entertainment. It is not life or death. Our lives don't...or at least shouldn't...revolve around it. My days of living or dying with the outcome of a game ended when I was a child.

To see thread after thread calling for firing everyone, cutting everyone, blowing it all up and how the team let you down and you are done...etc. It is laughable. We are not entitled to anything. And to think you are is delusional.

The Cowboys have given me a lifetime full of memories and I will always be a fan. I will always hope for the best. I will always enjoy the good times and quickly get over the bad because I have it in perspective.

I will never be embarrassed being a fan of the team I have loved since I was 6 years old. Many of the fans of that team I am forced to be associated with is another story.

Well said my visually-impaired equine friend!

Years ago I would have beat the wife, yelled at the kids and kicked the dog after a loss. Now, I simmer for a while, think about what could have been and get ready for what is yet to happen. As a Cowboys fan, there is always what tomorrow brings.

Just for the record, I did bail on the team at the end of the 3rd quarter. :D

I don't understand your angle here. Never be ashamed to support the star. That blue star is bigger than any entity that has been associated with it over the years. (incl Jerry & crew)

I completely misread your post.. Or basically went by title alone. My apologies. You totally nailed that one.

My feelings would not have been hurt if I had awakened today to the news of Kiffin having been let go though. Blowing up the team is not reality. Completely agree.

I don't know how many of you Cowboy fans live in Dallas, but it’s really tough for those of us who don’t.

At least you fans in Dallas have each other to commiserate with. And you don’t have to experience what those of us go through who live in other cities with NFL franchises from the hometown fans of those teams.

I used to feel such a sense of pride walking around with my Cowboys sweatshirts and/or jackets…now people laugh when they see Cowboy gear. It happened yesterday when the UPS guy delivered packages to my house. He was telling me we were going to get our butts whipped (and we did), and laughed about Tony “No-mo” and how Jerry is really coaching the team. I jokingly told him to get off my lawn ;), but what can I really say to refute all that? It happens all the time. Jerry has taken what was once a proud franchise and turned us into a joke.

Like I said, if you live in Dallas, you may not see it, but if you live somewhere else (especially in a city where the NFL franchise is doing well) it’s awful.

So to be a realist you have to post things like we are going to win out and win it all? Heaven forbid people question the team on a message board. If you don't want to read fans calling for a coaches head perhaps you should steer clear of message boards. Or even avoid call in radio for that matter.

I've been ashamed 2 times last season and this season! Its one thing to lose. Its another to go out and get made to look stupid like a high school team out there in all aspects of a game.

Wait?

You don't live or die based on the outcome of the game but you actually feel ashamed because there are people who do?

I read you loud and clear. Last night was an embarrassment, but let's be real. The Cowboys are trying to stop teams with guys like Jeff Heath, Corvey Irvin, Martez Wilson, Cameron Lawrence, and B.W. Webb now. I'm still hopeful for the rest of the season, but my expectations are lowered. This team is too decimated defensively to even compete; without even getting into the other problems. 8-8 now sounds like an achievement.

I'm not ashamed of the Dallas Cowboys, I'm ashamed of this franchise. The people in it. The cowboys are bigger than these people. Even Jerry can't live forever, one day he will be an after thought, but the Cowboys will go on and on. This current regime, I don't give 2 cents about. And I know you're Mr amazing super fan, I could care less what you think, how you feel, what anyone thinks, I know where I stand as a Cowboys fan. I'm a person who likes victory. Winning, I could care less about the bad times or losing. I have no good memories of anything since 95.

And for the record, this is definitely not my life. I don't post on here every day, and for those who do, I have no problem with that. But a day after a horrible showing from our favorite team, it's got me extremely ticked off and I'm here to get it out of my system. If that's makes you ashamed, who cares?

Sounds like you are just a better person than the rest of us. Congrats.

Some of us tend to have a desire to want to motivate our fellow fans. Sometimes it works about as well as Garrett's locker room speeches.

So to be a realist you have to post things like we are going to win out and win it all? Heaven forbid people question the team on a message board.
