I don't want to keep him. I want to replace him.

But if we can't replace him, then I would rather us keep him at a lower price as a backup until we find a replacement.

I'm all about contingencies. ;)

He has a lot more than those but he also can play well at times. I'll try and look at the all22 on some early games then later. People keep talking about his hands and technique.

I feel exactly the same. At an extremely low price, I could live with him as the back up swing tackle. He at least has some experience playing both sides, and could probably hold his own when the other team hasn't been studying film on him as the starter. If we cut him, awesome! If we keep him as a backup at low cost, okay with that, too.

lol i've been saying YOU DON'T KEEP BAD PLAYERS. i don't care if he offers to play for FREE (see what I did there), you don't keep a player who is a detriment to your team.

some of you guys need to man up and learn how to let go of these players.

With this buyers market in FA, the good news is that we might be able to find someone who could push to start at RT at a great price. Then Parnell becomes your relatively cheap swing tackle.

doug free is good, definitely above-average. anyone in the draft would not help. doug free works hard day in and day out in practices. i honestly don't know what you say in half of your posts.

Parnell can do what Free can do. Time to move on, release Free and move the hell on.

I think this is the game where Jerry said Free played admirably in the second half!

Yeah, seriously. I'm basing that on the fact that Free did quite well when he was relatively unknown. Then when he had been a full-time starter for a while the whole league seemed to figure out how to attack him. Either Broadus or Couchscout talked about how he has lousy hand-fighting technique and the other teams were able to see that on film and know how to attack him better. If he's a backup and only plays when he comes into a game due to injury, the opponent will not have been studying film of his lousy technique and won't be prepared to attack it as well. Hence, he could probably hold his own better in such situations. You see it all the time when a backup comes in to a game and has great success, but if they start for any length of time the opponents figure them out and attack their weaknesses very successfully.

Why so other like you can cry, "We have no depth! What's Jerry doing?!" when a starter gets hurt?

What part of Doug Free sucks do you not understand? You feel comfortable with him being one rolled up ankle away from starting again?
