END QUARTER 2

? For the people who want to trade up for Peterson

Not so fast, I'd take that trade as well. IMO Peterson is a once in a generation type DB and far and away the best player in this draft, if I have to part with a 2nd so be it.
I have a tag team partner. Woo hoo.

Just pray he gets to 5 or 6 and he's probably ours.

Most are expecting Dallas to offer their first and 3rd to move up to get PP..let's say for whatever reason it is going to cost our 1st and 2nd, would you still make that trade?

NO! We are not one player away.

I'll jump on Team Rake Me Over the Coals as well with a caveat; I trade #9 and #40 to move up but I expect some compensation in return such as a 4th round and a late round pick potentially. We can find some solid OL in the middle rounds.

That being said, PP won't be wearing the star on draft day IMHO. The Philly JV game, in retrospect, is one I would have rather lost (and this is coming from someone who thinks you should always give it your best effort and play to win).

A part of me wish they'd found a way to lose, but you can't ever play to lose. Enough on that, that'll just encourage a tired argument.

Watching more of these CB's I'm starting to like Peterson more and more. Amukamara too (and I really didn't like the idea of taking him). Jimmy Smith and Johnny Patrick are too much of a risk. I'm with Casserly (God help me) on Brandon Harris. My favorite CB outside of the top 2 is Shareece Wright, and he may have the worst hands I've ever seen on a football player. CB in this draft is scarily sparse.

We might be one player away, but that one player isnt a CB.

Respectfully - we are most certainly more than one player away.

Oh I agree, I was just saying if we WERE one player away, it wouldnt be one CB.

On that note - I agree. ;)

In which way? Would you? I think we agree on something.

The rest won't speak on it.

I'm not giving up our 1st and 2nd this year for any player in this draft.

1st and 3rd to get the right player:

Dareus
Fairley
Peterson

ABSOLUTELY!!!!

I'll trade next years first and our this years 3rd, 4th and 5th to get top 20 this year.

But funny how no one but you would discount the Tony Romo trade with the parameters I laid out.

I wouldn't trade him for that either.

You never trade your franchise QB unless you have one waiting in the wings. Romo is the only way this club can sniff a SB. You don't trade your way to the SB away unless you have someone as good or better already on the club.

I agree just as I did in my previous post.

Oh, I bet there's enough posters on here that would do that trade.

There's a lot of guys on here that would trade Romo for a 1st rounder, let alone Cincy's 1st, 2nd and 3rd this year.

I wouldn't but there's enough of his haters out there.

They're just hiding right now cause they know they'd get lamb basted.

They're waiting for that first INT and loss to start the bickering.

Just another thought: I could still see this being a moot argument by having a team like the Bengals surprise everyone and draft Peterson.

A lot of it, unfortunately, comes down to retrospect with the 3rd rounder. If we trade up and the cost is our pick and Jason Williams/Robert Brewster/James Marten/Jason Hatcher/Stephen Peterman/Derek Ross/Willie Blade, then yes, you can have it.

Sans Jason Witten, god help us in the 3rd.

3rd would be fine, 2nd is too rich.

Parroting everyone else, but that seems to be the price point that makes the most sense.

No. I never give away a top QB when I don't have his successor, and we don't.

I don't feel I am a draft expert by any wild stretch of my imagination. I am just a junkie, a grinder.

Sorry Hos if you took it the wrong way. No disrespect, You , CowboyJoe, and SoDog know more info than me and many others. If I were a top three team I would pick Peterson but that is just me personally. Those teams might have other ideas.

I didn't take it bad at all. I just don't see myself as a draft expert. A junkie, oh yeah. Love this stuff.

some good data out there about CB taken high in the draft and their low bust percentages. Peterson would be guy worth trading up for.

One thing I heard on NFL Radio that I didn't know will affect many people's thoughts on trading picks. Due to the labor issue, next year's picks CANNOT be traded. So, the possiblity of making a trade including picks for next year's draft is not possible.

The options are give up a first and second or equivalent or not get him. There is no option C or give up a first and a third or a fourth. Premium talent comes at a premium price. And this guy is a premium talent. Think of what Revis means to the Jets.
