im a first timer, and in the past i used to go to the barber for a haircut, but i brought a pair of clippers for Xmas bc i want to learn how to cut my own hair, so i have simple question. When you first buy a pair of clippers and open the package, how long do you charge the clippers before you start using them?

Charge them over night. Eight hours should be enough.

I have actually been cutting my own hair for awhile. No, not buzz cuts but styling it to a professional look with tappering. It takes a few times to get good at it, but it's possible.

Wahl has some videos at: http://wahlkeepitclean.com/ to teach how to cut your own hair, and I'm sure you can find some videos on youtube that help you out as well.

Just get a Flowbee and be done with it! :laugh2:

I got tired of the rechargeables and went to a corded shaver. The darn things kept turning on in my luggage during trips and didn't have any juice when I got to where I was going!

I have a full size Wahl professional trimmer that I use to trim facial hair. (I keep it about 2-3 days in length) It's my second one. The first one I had lasted well over 10 years. This one I've had for maybe 2 1/2. It is an absolute piece of junk compared to the first one I bought.

It's a damn shame the quality that companies put out continues to drop. It's the same thing with our refrigerator. We have a GE Profile and come to find out *some* are made in Mexico and those have a much lower standard that they are made by. Ours starts having issues, we look and I be damned if it isn't made in Mexico. To top it off, you pay the same amount for the ones that weren't made in Mexico. :banghead:

I just gave myself a buzz cut. Used the '1' setting on the blade guide. This spring I'll probably shave it bald to see how I like it. Had Buy a toboggan though....

I started cutting my own hair about 10 years ago when I began losing hair up top. For a years, I would use the max setting on my trimmer which was a 7, because I was afraid to cut it any shorter (I was worried that I didn't have the right shaped skull for that look), but a friend of mine who shaves his head told me I should just buzz it, and be done with it.

One night I was cutting my hair, made a mistake, and thought, what the heck, so I took it all the way down to a 0 (no guard). It didn't look bad. It's a lot easier to take care of.

One of the posters on my hockey board said he thought about buzzing his head, but his barber told him not to because he had a head like a Klingon.

It's really his forehead he needs to worry about in that case. And I'd hope it's already showing!
