I used to draft value chart (some say it's outdated) to estimate what it would cost us to move up. These trades are all within 5 pts of each other. In some cases we get an extra pick in return, although I am not saying that the team holding that spot owns that pick, just that the Cowboys could expect something comparable in addition.
Our picks (value) are as follows: #19 (875 pts), #50 (400), #81 (185), #116 (62), #137 (37.5), #171 (23), #192 (14.6), #193 (14.2), #208 (8.2) & # 236 (1). Total value is 1620.5 pts.
Before I get to the trades, please note:
# 116 = #171 through #236, inclusive. #137 = # 192 through #236 & # 171 = #193 through #236.
OK, here goes...
#6 = 1600 = 19 + 50 + 81 + 116 + 137 + 192 + 193 + 208 + 236 (all except our 5th)
#7 (& 174) = 1521 = 19 + 50 + 81 + 116 (1, 2,3 4a)
#8 (& 117) = 1460 = 19 + 50 + 81 (1, 2, 3)
#9 = 1350 = 19 + 50 + 116 + 208 + 236 (1,2,4a, 6c 7)
#10 = 1300 = 19 + 50 + 171 (1,2,5)
#11 (& 166) = 1275 = 19 + 50 (1,2)
#12 = 1200 = 19 + 81 + 116 + 137 + 171 + 192 + 236 (1,3,4a, 4b, 5, 6a, 7)
#13 (& 203) = 1160 = 19 + 81 + 137 + 171 + 192 + 193 + 236 (1,3,4b,5, 6a, 6b, 7)
#14 = 1100 = 19 + 81 + 192 + 193 + 208 + 236 (1, 3, 6a, 6b, 6c, 7)
#15 (& 203) = 1060 = 19 + 81 (1, 3)
#16 = 1000 = 19 + 116 + 171 + 192 + 193 + 208 + 236 (1, 4a, 5, 6a, 6b, 6c, 7)
#17 = 950 = 19 + 137 + 171 + 192 (1, 4b, 5, 6a)
#18 = 900 = 19 + 171 (1,5)
If we stay at # 19, The value of the rest of our draft is 745.5 pts which we could trade to get back into the first in the 23 - 24 range. If we stay @ 19 & 50, the remaining value is 345.5 which is the range of # 55-56. If we stay @ 19, 50 & 81, all of our remaining picks (116 through 236) would be equal to pick 86. All 4 of our comp picks, plus our 6th & 7th would be equal to pick # 117.
