For those wanting to make the move to Romo, go back and watch his preseason injury again.

Nevermind that he got hurt, just watch how incredibly slowly he's moving before getting hit.

Romo's best asset has always been his ability to make plays when the play breaks down.

He no longer has that.

He is not 2009-2012 Romo. He is not even 2014 Romo anymore.

What you will be getting instead is more of what you see above. A lethargic, old QB.

I respect the hell out of Romo, but the move to put number 9 back under center is a knee jerk reaction rooted in deluded hope.

what we want does not matter.
it is all up to jg and the jones boys , it is their call to make.
all we can do is watch the games and see what happens.

so those who do not want the switch because Romo is fragile then you have nothing to lose. romo plays gets hurts almost immediately as most who are against the switch argue, then Dak gets to go right back in.
The problem for them is they will see how much better the offense runs with Romo right now. They don't give a **** about Tony's health.

The last 2 games were tough places to play, we got the win in Minnesota, we lost a toss up game in NY...I now want to see Dak rebound at home and put those tough games behind him, but if he struggles...I could definitely see Romo coming in at some point, but I for one hope Dak rebounds and is solid.

Have you seen Tom Brady move?

Romo hasn't been sprinting for first downs in years. He can still do the escape stuff in the pocket though.

I don't want the switch right now but if the TB game is much of the same, Romo has to play the next week. They can't give Dak anymore games after this week to try and get back on track and expect Romo to be ready for the playoffs.

If Tony gets injured again, so be it and we have our final answer. If he doesn't, ride Romo to the end and see what happens.

Funnily enough, IIRC Romo had his longest run of his career in 2014.

But I get your point.

I'm just not sure if you get the one I was trying to make.

Tom Brady doesn't have to move because he's in an offense that gets the ball out quickly and he's arguably the GOAT QB.

That's just not Romo's game. He's never been that kind of QB. The plays that used to make Romo great are no longer an option from what I can tell by the most recent evidence we have above.

I'm not talking about springting for first downs. I'm talking about just being able to move at an NFL speed in general.

36 is old in the NFL. It's even older when you've suffered as many structural injuries as Romo has.

Thinking he can move and be elusive in the pocket is just kind of wishful thinking at this point.

That's not really true at all.

That means you're taking valuable snaps from a Rookie who is ultimately going to be coming in when Romo inevitably gets hurt in your scenario.

Flip flopping QBs is not something successful franchises do.

It's knee jerk.

Last year's super bowl champ did exactly this. Worked for them.

No doubt it worked because experience is what matters in the playoffs. Romo has never had straight line speed but he is deceptively quick in short spaces. I watched the clip he wasnt sprinting for the first down he still had his eyes downfield looking to throw. Romo was never able to run away from defenders he got caught from behind just as he went into his slide. Romo doesn't need to be his 14' self to be better option than Dak. He could loose a step or two n still his experience wins out.

I think with how hard he's worked, he's likely better than the 2014 version.

Denver never really committed to Osweiler because those were vastly different situations.

It was clear to just about everyone that was going to be Peyton's final year as well as it was Osweiler's last year on his rookie deal.

The Broncos were 7-0 with underwhelming play from Peyton before that plantar fasciitis took hold. They only benched Peyton because he couldn't play.

Then Osweiler came in UNTIL they felt Manning was ready. He wasn't named the heir like the Cowboys did with Dak.

So once Manning was good enough to go, he came back and he played poorly.

The most important thing to note is that it really didn't matter much as to which guy was in there. Denver won on the back of their defense last year.

If the Cowboys are smart, they let their rookie figure it out and move forward.

They should not undermine their future leader in favor of a hailmary.

How is this not just wishful thinking, though?

I'm not trying to be rude, but it just doesn't make sense.

When has a QB been physically better after getting older and suffering more injuries?

When he works harder and the injuries aren't the cumulitive type...like bones.

Romo's best asset is his ability to hit WRs in the passing game in traditional drop back passing, not just in 'making plays' when things break down..

Additionally, you lose credence when you talk about how slow he was moving, considering he had surgery and wasn't moving all preseason and gained a lot of weight.. the purpose of preseason is to get into playing shape as well and this was game 1 for him, coming off surgery..

Didn't last years Super Bowl champs lose both of those quarterbacks? The truth is they allowed the young quarterback to go to Houston. The other quarterback was a future Hall of Fame member. Therefore you can't compare Dallas's situation to Denvers, because they apparently were not completely sold on Osweiler.

Never.
