yeah but you never know with extensions, Jimmy Johnson signed one the year before he left, Texas tech screwed Mike Leach after signing him to one, NBC is doing the same to Conan O'Brien.

second, this will ensure that jason doesnt sign with any other team, and that jason will get the head coaching job when wade leaves. Joe I have no doubt that people are reporting this but I can't see any of this happening with the CBA or more than likely lack of a CBA in place.I could see Wade getting another one year extension(which would irk me) but I can't see giving Garrett an extension just for the sake of giving an extension.

Even if Jason signs a contract extension he can leave at any time, especially if he gets a promotion of a head coaching job from another team.

An extension is essentially meaningless, except in principle. Jerry could dump anyone at any time. Usually, coaches "guaranteed" money is on the body of the initial contract...lesser amounts in extensions. It really don't matter if he gives a 10 year extension, he could still be fired after a year or a week. Not smart, but possible. Wade will be back, but on a tighter leash still and he'll have ONE more year to get it done. If he's not in the SB, he's thru.
