This season, Russell Wilson has a perfect 158.3 QB rating when throwing to Tyler Lockett. That would suggest we cover Tyler Lockett.

Seattle is the top rushing team in the NFL.

Seattle has never lost its first playoff game under Pete Carroll, who is 6-0.

However....

Seattle is 4-4 on the road this year.

I am not sure I buy the "perfect" rating when throwing to Lockett.

How is that even possible for a guy who has 70 targets but only 57 catches? I can't wrap my head around that one.

Seattle is a very difficult team to defend when their OL is good at the point of attack. The Cowboys defense is going to be challenged, but if they can get the Seattle ball carriers to ground on initial contact, that will be a huge advantage for Dallas.

I expect to see an effort like we saw against the Saints from the Cowboys defense. The inside pass rush for Dallas will be difference in this one. I feel Zeke is going to have a hugely successful day and not put the ball on the ground like he did earlier in the season.

These don't bother me too much. The Cowboys are the 5th best defense against the run and kept them to 113 yards in game three. Seattle ran all over teams like the Rams, Cardinals and 49ers who are all average to bad against the run, not to mention teams like the Chiefs (27th), Vikings (15th), Green Bay (22), etc. Not downplaying how dangerous their running game is, but the only top 10 rush defense they played was the Chargers and the Cowboys. They lost to the Chargers and the Cowboys offense/their defense won them the Cowboys game.

What they have and haven't done under Pete Carroll is meaningless. They had never lost a SuperBowl with him until they did. On a long enough timeline things change.

This is both a winnable and loseable game with two very similar teams. Seattle has experience and a better overall offense. Dallas has youth, speed and a better overall Defense. This game will come down to whether the Cowboys can score points or not.

Wilson is 1-3 on the road during the playoffs which is a key stat as well

Seattle is the top rushing team because Wilson runs, that's all. Buffalo certainly isn't a top-10 rushing offense, but Allen turns a lot of pass plays into rushing yards. It's a hollow statistic. They are a good running team, but total yards doesn't mean anything.

It depends on how many interceptions were thrown in those 70 targets. If the answer is 0, then it would be a perfect rating of 158.33

57/70 965 yards 10 TDs 0 INTs

158.33 rating

The last top 10 defense(Vikings) Wilson faced he went 10-20 72 yards, 0 TD, 1 INT QB Rating 37.9 (A QB spiking the ball on every throw would still get a 39 QB Rating)

He wasn't supposed to catch those 13 other passes. I'm sure the spin on how they got this rating will be very interesting.

Has anyone noticed that teams are throwing a lot of long balls at the Cowboys CBs lately and having success. Bryon Jones may be an all-pro CB but he has struggled at times with deep balls when receivers run past him. The same has been true of Awuzie at times. Wilson is one of the best deep ball throwers in the league because he puts good loft on his passes and his receivers can run under the football. The Seahawks will lull you into thinking they are running the football then launch a deep pass often with good success. This is a game where the Cowboys good young LBs need to be quick and tackle with force. A key guy this week will be Jeff Heath. He has got to tackle better than he has been the last several games.
