My cell phone plan is exactly what I need. I make calls. I text. I email. I go online. All for a fraction of what I pay for cable tv and internet - and about 90%+ of what I pay for is garbage I dont watch. Cable tv & internet is legalized extortion compared to my cell phone plan.

Just for the record, WPB, having any trouble understanding me?

Yesterday, I arrive home around 2:30ish, and for some reason ESPN is on. This is when all all the FAs signed, and what does ESPN, have on? Bruce Jenner......

I am personally boycotting ESPN due to them giving the Arthur Ashe award to Jenner. A guy whose reckless driving killed a woman earlier this year.

Their programming is pretty much garbage anyway.

That woman's life pales in comparison to the fact that he came out and said he's really always been a she and can now finally be herself.

Didn't you know that? That's not just ESPN whose news reporting feels that way. That's your general news stations.

I'm not saying that I have anything against what she has done but I agree with you that none of that matters and it shouldn't be celebrated in this persons case cause their reckless driving killed someone.

Haha...Everyone loves to hate us.
People don't realize that without the major investments of the cable companies that the internet would not be half the size that it is today. The telecoms were not in the position to invest the money needed to bring true high speed internet access to most Americans. (remember AOL and your 28.8 modem)

This isn't 100% true. Verizon and AT&T told the government they would replace copper with fiber optic throughout America, they promised this decades ago. So far, only like 13% of America has what we consider high speed internet. Instead they've done their best to stifle competition and keep their small monopolies. Yeah, it's much better using AOL on a phone line, but it's far from what I would call high speed.

AT&T and Verizon are Telecoms. They have rolled out television services in some markets (Uverse and Fios). However they didn't roll out these services until after broadband was already being provided by the Cable companies. So far the cable companies have led the charge to broadband internet access. It's not available to everyone I understand. The cost to run fiber or coax even to some areas that are rural keeps the availability limited to people that live in more densely populated areas. It's capitalism. The businesses need to make a profit for it to make sense. It's actually 78.1% of Americans have access to broadband internet at home.

It's is much more expansive to run fiber to every rural home than it would be to expand the cell networks to provide LTE to these areas. However the low data caps on mobile broadband is rarely criticized.

I think they should have never allowed the NFL to bully them out of original programming such as "Playmakers". I doubt the NFL would have declined to receive ESPN's money in future contract talks.
