Forcing the ball to Lamb a mistake?

By game Lamb has 9, 7, 7, 8, and 7 targets. 38 total targets in 5 games really isnt all that many so I struggle to agree that they are forcing him the football. I'm fine with saying they should stop the snaps with him at RB, but Dak isn't just going after Lamb. I'd actually argue Dak needs to go to Lamb more often when he gets 1v1.

To compare Garrett Wilson leads the league with 55 targets, Nabers is right behind him with 51. Lambs 38 is very average in comparison to other teams top guy.
You got me there, can’t argue the numbers. The Dak to Lamb connection should start to heat up as the year goes on, little out of sync at times so far I think.

Most teams go into a game intent on finding ways to get their best weapon the ball as much as possible.
I agree normally, but I think there is something to be said for going back and taking what the defense gives you and I feel like Dak presses to focus on Lamb too much Forcing things at times.

Lamb has established himself as a Top 5 WR in the game, and he produces. You have to get your playmakers the ball, and I expect the targets to go up in the coming weeks. It's good Tolert n Turp are stepping up, but how much of this is on the coaches...

It's both. You call plays to get the ball to your stud WR. You look his way earlier and stay with him longer than you do others to see if he is open. You throw his way more often than you do others. You throw him balls you might not throw others. You don't make poor decisions and force it to him when he is covered or another player is open.
Agree with this. Yes, get your best players the ball. But there is a limit to that. You can't just force him the ball when other receivers are wide open.

That's the fine line the quarterback has to walk. But when you're the highest paid player in the league, you should be expected to walk it.

I get that Lamb is an elite talent at his position, although seemingly insecure at times and mentally breaks down. It just seems like we go into a game intent on feeding/forcing the ball to him. I get wanting to get one of your best players involved, however it seems to make us somewhat one dimensional. Especially without a running game.

Perhaps it’s best to just have Dak drop back and find the open man, instead of locking onto Lamb Like we seem to do at times. This really stood out in the second half of the Pittsburg game last week.
Totally agree

I think that's something Dak is going to have to figure out. We're basically a decade into this experiment he should have the understanding on any given play that if my #1 guy is doubled I need to look elsewhere.

You gotta always be looking at your top guy but success comes from not forcing it and just throwing to who evers open.

..learn from great Brady. He never forced fed anyone. He played to defense weak links.

The ball was spread out to everyone.

I agree, but if you you have no other options and have to force it, then CD is your best bet. As long as he runs the correct pattern.

I wonder who was throwing him the ball when he became one of the top receivers in the league?
But the topic is "forcing the ball to Lamb."
In cases where Dak has done that (or many quarterbacks for that matter), he has thrown interceptions too.

Tolbert had more targets than CeeDee.

Tolbert & Turpin had career high targets in that game.
