If you really want to know the secret of putting together a good team as yourself this one question. How many players in the last 10 years did the cowboys pay big money to that didnt produce?

La'roi Glover - he was good with us but with other teams he was great. He never even broke the 7 sack plateau I think. Maybe he got to 8 I am not sure but he was no where near 17 I know that.

Roy Williams - 11 mill last year and he put up his last year. Please dont tell me about the picks...they were picking on him alot and he is one of the reasons we arent playing tmro...his tackling fell off too...what was he good for after we paid him 11 million?

Anthony Henry - 10 mill up front and he was a liability. Couldnt stay healthy and got burnt alot the past two years...now he is going to safety? come on man...he will get burned there too!

Ferguson - Great year this year but where was he last year? What did he get,,11 mill up front?

Rivera - this guy was terrible the past two years...he got like 9 or 10 mill up front...please marco give us back our money! You should pay us 20 mill instead of the 9 or 10 for the job you have done...

Bradie James - you were my guy but now you are just a big weightlifting non moving, ginko bilobo needing, cant remember the plays or where I should be fool! You should get cut IMO....he is another reason we are not watching our team next year...his play dropped off considerably after he got the contract you were playing so well for last year!

TO- 25 million...what did it give us? a new headline every week...problems with other players wearing on them...bradie comment...other ones coming out through JJT during the year....what did you do TO? 13 td's but not one of them the way you used to get them in san fran on quick slants or crossing routes taking it to the house...you are 1.5 steps slower but your mouth is still running ahead of the pack...what a joke...

little did we know that when TO said get your popcorn ready he was talking about a nonstop TO movie that would be going on ALL YEAR WITH ALL HIS DRAMA GOING ON....CUT THE DRAMA QUEEN ALREADY!

who else am i missing?

The bottom line is this...dont look for Adalius Thomas next year...a guy who overachieved, who is going to get 10 mill up front....and then fall off....most of the high priced FA's dont work...research it...too risky...look for the guy that is about to be the adalius thomas of this year next year...that is the guy we want...an up and comer that is about to break out...he is much cheaper and much hungrier....look at the pats the past few years for a reference..

It could work if you are one two players away from the big dance but I agree with you for the most part that you can't build a good team that way.

The NFL is all about coaching, scheme, execution, and effort. All 4 of which we lacked at various times on defense this season.

The players for most every team are pretty close to even talent wise... its all about how each team uses their players.

Makes you wonder why from '00 to '05 the SB losers all failed to make it to .500 the following year. One winner did that too... then last years went 8-8. Or how the NFC has had 8 diff reps in the last 9 years.. prolly 9 out of 10 if the Hags dont make it again.

You'd think all those SB losers would be just that much more hungry to get back the following year and get it right. Not go in the tank.

Was that because those coaches changed their beliefs about how to win football games the following year or because there was player movement.. both arrivals and departures that affected their ability to keep it going? Not to just stay highly competitive even, but to just be mediocre.

Not saying the talent comings/goings might not've been fairly equal on paper.. but apparently they werent in the ability to get those players to buy in.

Remember the good old days when Championship losers kept coming back over and over for more? Us til we finally got over the hump in the 70's, the Bronco's in the 80's, the Bills in the 90's? ;)

Exactly!! Just like Gruden did with TB.. a great young coach with a brain. Gets that team over the hump.. SB victory in the very first year!

Nevermind they're 10 games under .500 since.

Tell it to the Saints and Drew Brees.Or the Colts and Vinatari. Or the fans of countless teams who suck and never pay money for anybody. Signing big name guys aint the problem, its picking the right big money guys. If you think you can find the next superstar who nobody knows about and wont cost squat , by all means tell us who he is.

Well everyone should know that Jethro can't find the next superstar, but he did find the next soap opera star in T.O.

i dont agree...rivera was pretty good in green bay before he came here...ferguson was for new york too...so was glover...roy was dominant before he got his money! bradie looked alot better too...same with TO...all i am saying is instead of throwing 10 mill at adalius thomas go ahead and get someone who is on the verge of being what he was this year and it will be alot cheaper and less risky...you can get 4 of them for the price of one! one of two of them should pan out...more bang for the buck...

then we might have 4 roster spots taken by four promising players who does not show up.... we need DL help Spears and Canty were suppose to improve, but didn't
