Forget the Wild Card

Going 9-7 probably wouldn't get us into the wild card, but it COULD win our division. Clearly the hardest part would be us going undefeated for the season, but I challenge that if we could beat the Giants who everyone was saying was the best team in the nfc, we could certainly beat anyone, especially if Romo can come back.

We're currently 4 games behind. The division leading Giants.

We need every team in the division to lose 4 key games. And I think its very possible.

New York. Have to lose one division game preferably to the Commanders, they still have 4 division games left. I don't think its a stretch of the imagination. We also need them to lose to Jacksonville, Minnesota, and Green Bay. Jacksonville is 5-4 on a 2 game winning streak. Minnesota is unreliable but could certainly surprise them. Green Bay is 6-3, currently on a 3 game winning streak. Also a key note is that they still have Philly twice. So even if they beat Minnesota, if they can lose 1-3 division games, it will really hurt them.

Only our lose to chicago would hurt us, so im pretty sure we would win in terms of tie breakers.

Philadelphia. We play them twice. So we only need them to lose 2 games. They have Chicago, Houston, and Minnesota. We generally want them winning their division games. They have New York twice. So If they can split with New York or beat them twice, that would certainly help us.

Washington. We're only 3 games behind Washington. We play them once. They have the Titans, Tampa, Minnesota, and Jacksonville. And they have 4 more division games, including us of course.

I think clearly the division will and can help us. Obviously we still need to win out, but it just means the playoffs is starting super early for us. But unless one of those teams goes on a complete tare, we are still in it for the division, more so than the wild card.

When you consider the fact that we still have 3 division games left, you realize that we're still in the running. We have 3 games where we can directly affect teams ahead of us.

If we can win the next 2 games, I think we can win the next 5 games. I almost guarantee you if we beat Detroit, and New Orleans, Romo plays against Indianapolis. Thats the only reason why he isn't on the IR. And thats 6 weeks into his injury.

He was given a 6-8 week timeline. And I'l buy into 6 weeks if we're in playoff contention. And before anyone says don't rush Romo back too soon. Aikman came back 5 (6 weeks including the bye) from the same injury.

I will jump on the boat called, Dreamboat Annie for a minute.

Thinking this team can win out is of course possible.

(1) PROBLEM: A missed kick will do us in. Thanks Jerry.

Without a REAL kicker we have NO SHOT at going undefeated the rest of the way.

I agree, I already made a topic about this. You need to give our team every chance it has, and it doesn't have that with Buehler. I believe he has already cost us games this season. Simply with lost momentum.

this man speaks the truth. buehler is 11 for 15, which sounds okay, but in fact he's ranked 31st in the league.

also note that most of his made FGs are 20-35 yarders in the first half, while i believe all of his misses occured late in games, in pressure situations. two of those misses were absolute killers in the Commanders/bears games.

he's just not clutch. he'll have 7 more games to prove me wrong, but i doubt it.

I think it would be wise to take one game at a time and not get one's hopes up. But it is fun to think about.

Even if the team shows up every week from now on i think we'll be lucky to win 5 games this year. Both the OL and defense needs an overhaul and it will cost us more games

If Romo can come back for Indianapolis, and we get the same effort we got today, I don't think its far fetched that he could win 5 games in a row. That Colts game is the hardest game on our schedule, it only gets easier for us after that.

Make that two...no way should Wade been able to retain his job after the Titans manhandled them in Jerry's living room.

I really don't mind if we miss the play-offs, you know JG will use it a another reminder of what the teams sloppy play and bad attitude cost them.

I was giddy watching the game yesterday, for the first time in a LONG time I believed in the team. If we just finish the season playing strong football, I'll be happy and jacked about next year.

It's going to be so depressing if they win out 9-7 and miss the playoffs. Everybody will always wonder what if Garrett takes over a week or two earlier. 10-6 makes the playoffs a lot more consistently than 9-7.

That being said, the chances of them winning out at all are slim to none. It's just really hard for great teams to string together that many wins let alone one that has had its flaws exposed for the first 8 weeks and is playing with an interim head coach.

But we are fans, and it is a fan's right to dream.

I love the optimism lol.

So we're rooting for Washington tonight, no?

The NFC is a muddled mess. 9-7 or 8-8 could make it in. Some teams that are hot now could easily tank. It happens every year. I'm not terribly optimistic, but all I'm looking for is a change of attitude and some competitive games. Possibly a peak into what next season brings.

Man, i'm having the same thoughts. I've seen us all year overcoming magnificent odds and still making it home to the super bowl. For some reason I've just never lost belief.

Almost like fate has been messing with us, making this feat we're attempting this year be something we really have to work hard to get. But if somehow, someway we did, it would make for one of the most magical super bowl runs in NFL history...which possibly, the only way we ever see our first home super bowl team in this league...and coincidentally in our 50th year.

America's Team, we've built ourselves into the American Reality,...now maybe we somehow rise against all odds and achieve the "American Dream". And ironically possibly all starting in what was advertised heavily as "America's Game of the Week".

Here's some facts...

The only time the Cowboys won 8 games in a row during the regular season was back in 1977, when they started out 8-0. The longest winning streak combined with playoffs was 10 games back in 1971 ending with their 1st SB win. That streak continued for 2 more games the following season for a grand total of 12 games. That's the longest winning streak in the Cowboys 50 year history and it was accomplished 38 years ago. The next longest streak was 10 games total, if you combined the 93'-94' seasons. It would take another 8 game winning streak, just to reach a 9-7 record and a possible wildcard berth. Not to mention, another franchise best 12 game winning streak (8+4 postseason) for the Cowboys to win this year's SB.

Do you believe?

We can beat Detroit next week (key word is CAN), I also think we can beat NO at home on thanksgiving (simply because we are at home and on thanksgiving and Jason will have them ready we hope)...so I know everyone says take it one game at a time and I agree, I am focused on the Detroit game and excited to see what happens, but just for this I think its fun to look one more ahead. Things will really start to get interesting if this team makes it to 4-7. I don't think we make the playoffs, odds are just so poor and this team still has big issues, but it is seeming like it is going to be fun to watch this team again, and that is exciting.
