I just got done reading an article by mickey defending Romo, I would post it but I am on my cell. It pretty much goes through his spectacular stats over his first 2.5 seasons as our starter. One noticeable omission from the article was Tonys fumbling problems. Someone feel free to post the article, as I believe it does a good job of pointing out how well Romo indeed has doe so far. I feel as if sometimes our expectations from him might be a bit high but that is mainly because many feel so highly about him. I guess the purpose of this thread is how much time does Romo have before Jerry and or the fans think there needs to be a change. I personally don't know how I will feel about Romo specifically if 09 renders similar results to 08. I honeslty love having Romo as our qb but at the end of the day it is about winning in Jan/feb. So what happens if we don't win a playoff game next year? Time for competition at qb or not? 2more years and no playoff wins, is that when? Hopefully we get this playoff monkey off our back next year.

Forget T.O.? Those letters are used so much in the Zone I'll be suprised if anyone still has them etched on their keyboard!
As far as the article, it's posted in the Daily Zone, I believe, and Mick makes some valid points, but he's giving Romo to much leeway as far his responsibilities to the team. He's only started like 40 reg. season games but that doesn't excuse some of the boneheaded decisions he makes...

Well, in 13 games this season, Romo had 14 INTs, 13 fumbles (7 lost).

As fans, we are spoilt. The truth is, Romo is in elite company when it comes to his overall stats. But I think there should always be open competition for every position. If the idea is to put the best 11 players on the field, regardless of which side of the ball they line up, then no one should feel safe. Every training camp should put every position in jeopardy and throughout the year performance should be measured by the guy waiting in the wing to get a chance. So, while it may be awhile for me to come to the conclusion that Romo is a bust and should go elsewhere, competition for that position should start this year. But if someone does replace him, he would have to be pretty damn impressive (or named Tim Tebow) for me to be convinced he's the way to go.

Yeah, horrible numbers. What's especially worse is that Super Bowl winning QB had more INTs and fumbles with 9 fewer TDs and 26 more sacks. Now that's game management.

As with most players, you take the good with the bad. His style of play added to that o-line is gonna create some turnovers, but it's better than we tolerated for years looking for a franchise qb.

That's having a defense that doesn't wilt in the 4th quarter!!!

Did I say Roethlisberger played well this year?

Tim Tebow did, though. 'sall I'm saying.

I'm sure some fools are already done with him... I mean, he's had a whole 2.5 years and hasn't won a Superbowl yet.

But because of his contract, we're stuck with him for a while, like it or not.

Until it's absolutely proven otherwise, I'm going to still say we're lucky to have him.

Romo 12 Fumbles lost in career 831 pass attempts - Loses a fumble 1.4 every 100 pass attempts.

Tom Brady 29 fumbles lost in 2801 career pass attempts - Loses a fumble 1.2 times every 100 pass attempts.

And I'm betting the OL that Brady has been playing behind has been a lot better than the OL Romo has been playing behind and takes a lot less devastating hits.

Clearly Tony's .2 fumbles lost every 100 pass attempts that seperates him from a "winner" like Tom Brady is killing the Cowboys.

But hey ... if it's repeated over and over again on the intrawebs, it has to be true.

No doubt Tony needs to do a better job of protecting the ball and the line needs to do a better job of protecting Tony. Romo can put up some big numbers on teams but like any QB he needs help. One way Dallas may be able to do that is take a page out of Pitt book and run the ball a bit more than we currently do.

As bad as Roethlisberger and Romo played, they at least belong at QB in the NFL. Tebow, not so much. 'sall I'm saying.

Tebow is used to heretics.

Fortunately, he is not a vengeful One.

He is merciful. A compassionate One.

Way to go off on a tangent and completely ignore the meat of the post.

81 TD in 67 games played over 2.5 years is not bad at all.
