Can we please stop playing around with our offensive line and fix it for petesake. Free was driven back on a constant basis. he got beat by speed and power. Usually it was pick you move on him. Outside of Tyron Smith, we need to replace them all.

Parnell is soon to be 27 in July and Eric Winston is 29....

And I'm just tired of the uncertainty of the o line. We are never going to be a serious contender if we don't sure up the line and protect the QB. COULD Parnell be as good as Winston or Clabo next year? Sure. But its still a big question mark. We are talking about 3 or 4 million on a 1 or 2 year deal, not exactly breaking the bank there. I want as few question marks on the line as possible next year and I think Winston or Clabo provide much more assurance and stability to the RT position than what we currently have.

I approve of this message, whole heartedly. This team has been rolling long shots and maybes through the line forever with abysmal results. Draft some young guys AND bring in proven vets, get a decent mix going and give this offense loaded with quality skill players a freaking chance.

Clabo is young at 31 years old he's the right move @ RT for the next 2-3 years of Romos career. Not Free, not Winston .... CLABO!

I remember him allowing one sack during the four game final stretch. I can't promise that's accurate, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't more than that. If so, that means he allowed four sacks at LT while Smith was injured? That doesn't sound right. It doesn't jibe with the reviews he got that he played solidly while Smith was out.

There's always the chance that my memory is failing me. But Parnell allowing five sacks sounds off, way too high.

Sounded high to me, too, but people credit sacks differently. This writer could be counting those that should have been credited to a tight end or back.

Per PFF, Parnell gave up 2 sacks, 3 QB hits and 8 hurries.

From the math it appears the writer is adding hits and sacks.

That hit number is large given the number of sacks.

Free gave up 4 QB hits and 41 pressures. Tyron gave up 4 QB hits and 37 pressures.

That sounds more accurate.

Just a few days ago, I was all excited about Winston possibly coming in. But to be honest the more I thought about it, the less excited I feel about it.

Unless you can get him or Clabo to take the the bare minimum deal, I think there is better options.

Shouldn't we give Parnell a shot? Personally if this guy has something, I would rather a 25 year old be starting then an older veteran. We could use that money toward getting extensions done with Dez or Sean Lee.

If Free agrees to a pay cut, we could let the two of them battle it out. If you watch the last several games when the two of them were competing, you rarely see a bad play from the RT.

If Free doesn't agree to a pay cut, either draft a tackle in later rounds to compete with Parnell or sign another veteran. A guy like Sean Locklear can come in for dirt cheap to start if Parnell can't handle it. He played excellent for the Giants in replacement of David Diehl last season.

Just my two sense. Save the money...

So essentially, "do nothing" is a better option ? No, its not.

several reasons:

1) I know what we have with Free and Parnell and it's below average
2) Winston is an upgrade over both Free and Parnell means better OT
3) Winston is asking 3 to 4 mill per season which is not over priced
meaning a 3 yr deal at 11 million very reasonable for a starting OT
4) Stand Pat and do nothing will change nothing

Geter done Jerry than lets focus on OG and Center in the Draft ;)

Huh? Where did I say do nothing?

Players aren't allowed to have bad years? Free was awful the first part of last season, I completely agree. But why don't we see if Parnell can be the starter? Or draft someone to compete with him.

The problem with Romo is never the pressure on the outside, he moves around that quite easily. The problem is when the guards get run right past and he can't go anywhere.

Free was not all that good in 2011 either. So it is not just last year.

This x 1000. If we released the 4 scrubs we have to the right of Smith tomorrow they would probably not be picked up to start for any other team. You can't pay Tony all that money and not be serious about fixing the one thing you should be fixing. You can't possibly hope to win a SB with the running game we had last season.

Winston would be an upgrade, Moore would be an upgrade, Dallas has to get better in the oline.

According to PFF, Free's last three games were his best of the year for him.
